KUPWARA,
AUGUST 17: Vice Chairman Tribal Affairs,
Choudhary Zaffar Ali today conducted an extensive tour of Kupwara to review
progress of various development works and Action Plan under Special Central
Assistance to Tribal Sub Plan (SCA to TSP) in the district.
District Development Commissioner, Khalid Jahangir briefed the Vice Chairman
about steps being taken for the development of the Gujjar and Bakarwal (GB)
community in the district. He was informed about progress of on-going
development activities under cluster model village project at Kachama.
Implementing agencies were asked to formulate their Action Plan under SCA to
TSP for the GB community within a weeks’ time. Further it was said that 12
sheep units have been established under SCA to TSP and Rs 50 lakh stands
expanded on 17 developmental works under model village project.
The Vice Chairman directed the district administration for taking measures
for safety and protection of under construction girls’ hostel at Zangli.
Meanwhile, CEO Kupwara informed the meeting that 54 seasonal centres for
community students have been established covering 1083 students at various
educational zones. Around 12291 students have been covered under
scholarship schemes, he added.
Impressing upon officers to ensure basic facilities to the people, Zaffar Ali
asked the concerned to conduct awareness in the district so that people
are made aware about the developmental and welfare schemes launched by
Government and implementation of these schemes be taken as per requirements of
the people.
Earlier, he
attended the parents’ day meet organised by the Boys Gujjar and Bakerwal
hostel at Goose, Kupwara. Gujar and Bakarwal State Advisory Board members
accompanied the VC on the occasion.
Speaking on the
occasion, the Vice Chairman impressed upon the teaching fraternity to work
with dedication for providing quality education to students. He said education
is pivotal for the overall development of the society and to meet any future
challenges.
