Kolkata, Aug 11 : West Bengal Panchayat minister and senior TMC leader Subrata Mukherjee today appeared before the ED officials to face barrage of questions on his alleged involvement in Narada sting operation that showed he was taking wads of notes, after his two ministerial colleagues - Sovan Chatterjee and Firhad Hakim - were grilled by the central investigation for the past two days. 71-year-old veteran politician Subrata Mukherjee arrived around 1115 hours at the CGO Complex in Salt Lake responding three summons by the ED officials, who have been probing the money trails of Narada sting operation conducted by Narada News CEO Mathew Samuel in 2014 and that came to light before the state assembly poll in March-April 2016. The ED officials on Wednesday and Thursday grilled state urban development minister Firhad Hakim and city mayor and state fire department and environment minister Sovan Chatterjee for over 5 and 8 hours respectively for their alleged role in the sting operation and why they took money. Mr Chatterjee, who was grilled from 1200 hours on Thursday, later told reporters after coming out from the ED office said that they were subjects of political conspiracy. He said they have been falsely framed to defame the party and them. Sources in the investigating agency said they were probing by going documentary evidences and directed by the highest court of law in the country. Following the court directive, the CBI, another central investigating agency, has filed an FIR naming 12 Trinamool Congress leaders, including ministers, MPs and MLAs, and an IPS officer, accused of taking money from Narada news CEO Mathew Samuel during sting operations in 2014, which came to light just ahead of 2016 state assembly polls. The ED officials also summoned transport minister Shuvendu Adikari, MPs Saugata Roy and Prasun Banerjee to appear within three weeks. Earlier MP Sultan Ahmed and city deputy mayor of Kolkata Municipal Corporation Iqbal Ahmed were quized by the central agencies in Narada case. UNI
