Srinagar, Aug 8 :  Bhang cultivation spread over 1,381 kanals of land was destroyed during the last over a month by authorities at various places in Kashmir valley. An official spokesperson here today said that in its ongoing drive against bhang cultivation, the Excise Department has, so far, destroyed bhang on 1,381 kanals of land in various parts of Kashmir. He said a team, headed by Excise & Taxation Officer, Central Kashmir Excise Range, destroyed bhang on 40 kanals of land in the villages Haran and Saloora in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal yesterday. Whereas, he said second Excise team, headed by Excise & Taxation Officer, North Kashmir, destroyed bhang on 35 kanals of land in village Goshbug in north Kashmir district of Baramulla. Similarly, he said third Excise team, headed by Excise & Taxation Officer South Kashmir Excise Range, destroyed bhang on 26 kanals of land in village Path Nambal of Tehsil Srigufwara in south Kashmir district of Anantnag. He said that the drive would continue till the menace is rooted out from Kashmir valley. UNI
