JAMMU, AUGUST 24: A seminar
on career guidance and educational opportunities for youth was organise at MAM
College, Jammu under operation Pathshala.
The seminar was attended by SSP and hundreds of students.

Jammu, Sandeep Choudhary educated the students in detail about various career
and educational opportunities available to them during graduation and after
graduation. He said that the focus areas of the seminar were various
examinations being conducted after graduation for different jobs and
scholarship schemes.
While interacting with the students, SP emphasised the importance of
exposure for overall development of students. The students coming from rural
background face difficulty in various exams due to lack of exposure. The only
way to get through tough exams for students from humble backgrounds is to
prepare themselves with hard work and dedication. He stressed on the importance
of internet and easy availability of knowledge through Youtube lectures and
different open source websites.
Exposure can come through different means like travel, books, magazines,
movies and seminars etcetera said the SP while telling the students about the
travel documentaries produced by Rick Steves that are available on Youtube for
free. Books can play a very vital role in grooming young people for their
bright future. The importance of reading magazines like Time, The Economist,
Frontline, Economic and Political Weekly is very important for developing a
perspective on current issues. It is essential for young people to read
newspapers on regular basis.
The interaction also included the importance of understanding student
politics and its role in the larger politics.
The career guidance part of the seminar focused on preparation for UPSC,
SSC, Assistant Commandant Exam, Bank PO exam, NABARD and RBI grade-A and
grade-B exams. A detailed discussion about understanding the syllabus of these
exams was held. The importance of English as a global language and its vitality
in cultivating a career was also discussed. The admission procedure for
institutes like JNU, IIMs and Indian Statistical Institute was also discussed.
