SHOPIAN, AUGUST, 24: District
Development Commissioner Shopian, Mohammad Aijaz Asad today chaired a meeting
to review arrangements being put in place by the district administration for
the upcoming festive occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.
Senior Superintendent of Police Shopian, Assistant Commissioner
Revenue, Executive Engineer PDD, Executive Officer Municipal Committee, Technical
Officer R&B, Assistant Executive Engineer PHE, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Assistant Regional
Transport Officer, besides all Tehsildars and other concerned officers were
present in the meeting.
The availability of essential commodities including rice, flour, sugar,
kerosene oil and LPG, transport arrangements, cleanliness in and around
masjids, streets and prayer grounds, ambulance services, uninterrupted power
and water supply and repair and renovation of roads were discussed threadbare
in the meeting.
The meeting was informed that ration for the month of August has been
distributed among the consumers and adequate quantity of ration is available in
the godowns of the Concerned Departments.
The DDC directed the concerned to ensure adequate supply of power and
drinking water, essential commodities, and cleanliness measures around all the
religious places.
Chief Medical officer was instructed to keep ambulance services in a
state of readiness and ensure duty of doctors and paramedical staff for
facilitating public in general. The district sheep husbandry officer was asked
to ensure that adequate numbers of sacrificial animals are available. Chief
Animal Husbandry officer was directed to ensure availability of poultry birds
at fixed rates all around the district. He was directed to keep adequate stock
of milk and milk products.
The DDC also directed for intensifying market checking to keep a check
on profiteering, hoarding and black marketing. He directed the officers of
Municipal Committee, FCS&CA, Legal Metrology and Police departments to
ensure that products are sold strictly in accordance with the government
notified rates. Issues related to security, traffic management were also
discussed in the meeting.
