Reviews status of Alamdar Shopping Complex
SRINAGAR, AUGUST 24: The
Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today said that a comprehensive plan is
underway for the sustained development of the historic Char-e-Sharief town
which holds a special significance in the composite culture of the
sub-continent.
The Deputy Chief Minister said this while addressing a meeting he
chaired to review the status of construction of Alamdar Shopping Complex being
constructed by the Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board at an estimated cost of Rs 5
crore. The complex would be having 103 shops replete with the modern
facilities.
Minister for Agriculture, Mr Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, Vice Chairman
Waqaf Board, Peer Muhammad Hussain, Commissioner Secretary Housing & Urban
Development, Mr. Hirdesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Haroon Malik,
Managing Director Housing Board, Director Urban Local Bodies Kashmir and other
senior officers were also present.
Dr Singh directed the officers to speed up the pace of implementation
of the proposed shopping complex maintaining that it would provide the
requisite platform for the business community and prospective entrepreneurs to
carry out their economic activities and related things. He said that it would
also serve as a trading centre for the people of the area and its catchments to
get their daily use and other things besides also coming up as a point of
attraction and interaction.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the Government is committed for
ensuring comprehensive development of the historic town so that it comes up as
model town. He said since it is the abode of the patron saint of the Valley who
was a champion of mutual brotherhood and amity between different sections and
faiths so the importance of the town gets manifold and every care would be
taken to maintain it.
The Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura also spoke
on the occasion and highlighted the importance of the sustained development of
the historic town and said several flagship programmes in different sectors
have been undertaken for ensuring that the developmental landscape of the area
gets the requisite fillip.
