KUPWARA, AUGUST 31: The District Development
Commissioner, Kupwara Khalid Jahangir today conducted an extensive tour of
various areas of Kupwara district to inspect the proposed site for Waste
Management Plant at Nutnussa and Watavayan.
The tour was conducted to identify the land for construction of proposed
Waste Management Plant atKupwara, Handwara, Langate and Chougul areas. It was given out that 92
kanals of land are available at Nutnussa while 640 kanals of land is available
at Watavayan (Pohupath).
Officials of Revenue and Municipal authorities briefed the DDC Kupwara
about the proposed sites for Waste Management Plant to be established at the
proposed sites.
While touring the Tulwari and Shanoo , DDC also passed instructions to
seal the Hot Macadam Plants on the demand of the locals who alleged that some
miscreants are extracting the illegal sand and Bajri from the Nallah Mawar
during the night.
DDC directed the Geology and Mining, Irrigation, I&FC and Police to
take stern action against the extractors, contractors and vehicle operators for
illegal extraction of nallah products
During the tour, various deputations also met the visiting District
Development Commissioner and apprised him about the difficulties, issue and
demands facing them during the farming season and projected
demands for providing of irrigation pump sets to irrigate the farms adopted by
them. DDC assured them that their genuine grievances will be redressed on the
priority basis.
The DDC also visited BMOs office at Chougul (Primary Health Centre),
took stock of the attendance and facilities providing to the patients and needy
people within the health institution.
