Srinagar, Aug 19 :  Jammu and Kashmir Police busted a fuel pilferage racket by nabbing a culprit and seized 30 barrels of fuel in Kupwara district of north Kashmir, a police spokesman said here tonight. 
He said based on specific information, Police Station Kralpora seized 30 barrels (each containing 200 litres) of diesel and petrol from Chowkibal area of the frontier district Kupwara while they were being unloaded it from a truck. 
The illegal huge consignment of diesel and petrol was being smuggled to be sold in the open market illegally by Zahoor Ahmad Lone son of Abdul Ahad Lone resident Pangzam, Kralpora in district Kupwara who is also the owner and driver of truck. He was arrested, he said. 
Kupwara Police has registered a case under section 23 Petroleum Act, 3/7 Essential Commodities Act and investigation of the case is in progress. More arrests are likely in the next few days. 
Further SSP Kupwara Shamsheer Hussain has constituted a special team to ascertain the source of consignment and its destination so as to bust the whole module of the illegal trade. UNI
