| Stresses for inter-departmental coordination to overcome bottlenecks |
JAMMU, AUGUST: 29 Deputy
Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh has directed for improving the pace and
monitoring of the development works to avoid cost and time over run of the
projects.
The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at a high level meeting convened
to review the status of projects in Jammu city funded under Atal Mission for
Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) and being executed by Urban
Environmental Engineering Department (UEED).
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Jammu Kumar Rajeev
Ranjan, Additional District Development Commissioner Anuradha Gupta, Additional
Deputy Commissioner Dr Arun Kumar Manhas, Superintending Engineer PDD,
Engineers of UEED, PHE, PDD, ERA besides representatives of various telecom
companies.
The Deputy Chief Minister reviewed progress on deep drains at Toph
Sherkhania, Bharat Nagar Phase-I, Sunder Nagar, Sharika Vihar, deep drain along
Tawi Canal in Trikuta Nagar Extension, Construction of drainage network at
Channi Rama, Swagat Vihar Deeli, Construction of Nallah at Rehari, GGM Science
College and Jewel Chowk .
The work plan for construction of yet to be taken projects including
deep drain at Janipur, Sainik Colony, Rajiv Basti, Peerkho, Shahidi Chowk, Nai
Basti and Septage Management and construction of STP was also
reviewed.
Dr Nirmal Singh said that under AMRUT Rs 206.15 Crore funds have been
allocated for Jammu City covering the sectors like Urban Transport, Green Spaces, Drainage and
Sewerage.
He further said that the several major towns of the state would also be
covered under AMRUT so that they are replete with all the modern facilities of
urban living.
Deputy Chief Minister asked the executing agency to ensure timely
completion of the projects through proper monitoring and supervision at the
highest level.
Stressing on close monitoring, he directed Deputy Commissioner to
conduct regular inspections of construction sites to remove bottlenecks
hampering the pace of progress.
Dr Nirmal Singh stressed on the need for close coordination among different
agencies to ensure that the works are not hampered due to any issue.
