Jammu, Aug 22 : Hundreds of college girls today staged a protest in this winter capital of the state alleging misbehave by the peon, 'dictatorship' by the Principal and not allowing them to wear casuals on rare occasion. Shouting slogans against the Principal, girls of Government Women College Parade this morning took out a protest rally and blocked traffic at Kachhi Chawni area. Protesting girls alleged that one of the peons namely Gulzar misbehave with the girls at the entrance point and also uttered abusive language. "The peon also ask for special favour from girls to get grace marks in the assignment," they alleged. The girls however, further lashed out at the Principal for her 'adamant' nature and being 'dictator' in the college. "We had registered a written complaint against the peon, but no action was initiated against him instead he was sheltered by the Principal," they said. The demonstrators were seeking immediate action against the peon and the College Principal for their behaviour. Earlier in the morning the protest sparked when a group of college students were not allowed to enter the college gate as they were reportedly not following the proper dress code. "The college girls were in denims and T-shirts, while some of them were also not in proper dress code as mentioned in college rules," official sources here said. They said that as per college norms, the girls have to be in complete dress code ( white salwar, kameez and dupatta) barring married girls. Meanwhile, the girls amid slogans against the college authorities staged protest and blocked the road. Shouting 'we want justice', protesting girls demanded that they should not be forced to follow the dress code and also alleged that the college authorities do not allow them to enter the premises few minutes before from the scheduled time due to which they have to suffer especially the girls coming from remote areas. However, girls submitted a written complaint to the police and were assured justice following which they dispersed in the afternoon. UNI
