Srinagar, Aug 3 : The Gandola Cable Car (GCC) at world famous ski resort of Gulmarg, about 55 km from here in north Kashmir, was restored today after remaining grounded for 39 days. The service, connecting base camp with Affarwat, the highest skiing point, was suspended after a tree fell on the chair resulting in death of seven people, including four members of a family and three local tourist guides. Later, the government constituted a committee to conduct an inquiry into the accident. However, the committee in its report suggested to cut all trees near the GCC track. Today, the service was resumed and tourists from abroad enjoyed the first ride of the GCC. Over 100 tourists besides locals have enjoyed the ride since the service was resumed today, officials said.
