Heavy rains in Gorakhpur disrupt normal life; Airport closed due to waterlogging

Gorakhpur, Aug 14 : Normal life in Gorakhpur city has been disrupted with heavy rains lashing the city since last night, leading the authorities to close the Gorakhpur Airport due to waterlogging. Officials said here that due to heavy rains, water has submerged the runway while water has also entered the Air Traffic Control office. Three flights have been cancelled today due to the water logging on the runway, sources said. However, efforts were on to clear the water and by evening the situation would normalise. The entire city has submerged in water as the low lying areas have been inundated with rain water in the city. UNI
