Delhi, Aug 31: India is working on developing a roadmap for implementation
of Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and has constituted a committee and
six thematic sub-committees involving key ministries and departments. At the
Business and Climate Summit 2017 organised by FICCI here today, Environment
Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan said to achieve the goals, the Government was
implementing the National Action Plan on Climate Change which encompasses eight
national missions representing multi-pronged, long term and integrated
strategies for achieving key goals in the context of climate change. On the
Government's ambitious target of 175 GW renewable energy by 2022, the Minister
said the country so far had already achieved 58.3 GW. He said the Government
had also distributed energy efficient appliances including 23.39 cr LED, while
more than 2.8-cr LPG connections have been released to women below poverty line
under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The Minister said the International
Solar Alliance which was jointly launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and
Government of France provided a common platform where global community,
including bilateral and multilateral organisations could make positive
contribution to the common goals of increasing utilisation of solar energy in
meeting energy needs of ISA member countries in a safe and sustainable manner. UNI
