| Attends 523rd birth anniversary function of Acharya Shri Chander Ji |
SRINAGAR, AUGUST 30: The
Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today said the teachings of seers and
saints preaching mutual brotherhood and coexistence are more relevant in today’s context
where material pursuits are overtaking the spiritual pursuits.
The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at a function organized in
connection with the 523rd birth anniversary of Acharya Shri Chander Ji
organized by the management of Shri Chander Chinar Bada Akhara Udasin Trust
(SCCBAUT), Residency Road here today.
Dr Singh said the seers and saints have given us the requisite
parameters for leading a life full of spirituality. He said the onus lies on us
to follow the same and also propagate it among the youth and posterity.
While referring to the State as an abode of mutual coexistence and
communal harmony, the Deputy Chief Minister said this part of the sub-continent
has throughout the ages been an epitome of spiritualism and coexistence and the
teachings of JK's seers have a universal appeal and acceptance. He said
several philosophers and statesman have also referred to Jammu and Kashmir as a
model of tolerance, peace and syncretism.
The Deputy Chief Minister prayed for peace and prosperity of the State.
He also paid obeisance at the shrine.
