Srinagar, Apr 12 :  Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) installed and made operational a decontamination tunnel at Bone and Joint hospital at Barzulla, here today.

Mayor, Junaid Mattu, Deputy Mayor, Parvaiz Ahmed Qadri, Secretary SMC, Mohammad Akbar Sofi, Joint Commissioner, Administration, SMC, Syed Abul Qasim and other concerned were present on the occasion.

The tunnel was installed at the entry point of the hospital building to ensure persons visiting hospital including doctors, hospital workers, patients and attendants are instantly sanitized while entering or leaving the hospital premises.

It was informed that SMC has installed such tunnels at various hospitals including JLNM hospital, CD hospital, LD hospital, GB Panth and JVC. Besides, two tunnels have been installed at SMHS and two at SKIMS for sanitization besides, sanitization of hospital interiors by the Corporation is a regular affair, to contain spread of Corona virus.

Srinagar, Apr 12 :  In the wake of COVID-19 Pandemic, the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole, today chaired a meeting to review fool proof measures for smooth movement of essential commodities laden vehicles on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway, which has been opened for vehicular traffic after closure in winter months.

The meeting was informed that Youth Hostel premises at Sonamarg will be earmarked for health screening and other logistic arrangements besides continuing the process of fumigation of trucks and complex. Due to the sub-zero temperature, trucks will be allowed to move to Leh UT, from 10 am onwards and each truck will carry only eleven tones of load on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway, because of hilly, slippery terrain and weather vagaries. 

The Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned to ensure that health check-up of all drivers and their helpers is conducted immediately after their trucks reach Sonamarg point and issue colour-coded passes to them depicting the name of the driver, vehicle, registration & mobile numbers which should be pasted on wind-shield of each truck.

He further said that only driver and one helper will be allowed in a single truck for movement to the Leh UT and during such movement Social Distancing should be maintained in letter and spirit besides doctors, police and other concerned officials should wear personal protection gears.

On return from Leh UT, again health check-up of drivers and helpers will be conducted at Sonamarg besides indentifying the persons mentioned in the passes. He added that if any commuter violates the norms, he will be dealt with strictly as per relevant laws.

It was informed that the SSP Traffic (Rural) will be the final authority to allow the traffic on the Highway from Sonamarg point, after monitoring the current situation and climatic conditions. He will ensure that there no congestion of traffic on the highway besides deploying officers at every major point.

Div Com stressed for keeping vigil on traffic movement to avoid accidents on the road and asked the concerned to deploy a Recovery-Crane at Sonamarg point, to be used in emergency situation. 

He also directed BEACON authorities to repair the stretches of the road which were damaged due to rains and snow during winter so that traffic plies smoothly.

To improve mobile connectivity on the Srinagar-National Highway, Pole also issued instructions to BSNL and JIO mobile agencies to operationalize the Ranga Mode and Baltal towers immediately so that commuters do not face any inconvenience during travel.

Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, SSP Traffic (Rural) and Beacon officers were directed to conduct an extensive tour of the Sonamarg area, jointly to inspect ground preparations and submit the complete report to the Divisional Commissioner’s office for further course of action.

The Divisional Commissioner stressed the concerned to maintain inter-departmental coordination and make collective efforts for smooth movement of essential commodities vehicles on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway.

Srinagar, Apr 11 :  The Principal SKIMS Bemina (JVC) Dr. Reyaz A. Untoo on Saturday commissioned oxygen concentration plant with a capacity of 750Lpm to provide better care for COVID-19 patients in the hospital.

At present, 31 COVID-19 positive patients are receiving treatment in the hospital.

Speaking on the occasion, the Principal said that the work on the plant which has a standby compressor and dryer, was expedited for the better functioning of the designated Covid hospital at SKIMS, Bemina.

Besides, the Principal said that the plant can run 6 to 10 more ventilators over and above the existing four.

He stated that it will also help in increasing the bed strength from existing 20 to 80 to 174.

The Principal appreciated the efforts of Engineering Wing and Coordinator SKIMS Medical College in upgrading the infrastructural facilities required to upgrade SKIMS Bemina into a full-fledged COVID-19 hospital.

He complimented doctor, nurses, paramedical and other supportive staff for putting their best efforts in the management of COVID-19 patients.

Besides thanking Director SKIMS for providing necessary support, the Principal also thanked district administration, Srinagar for providing comfortable accommodation and other assistance.

Deputy Mayor, Parvaiz Ahmed Qadri said that SMC is installing such tunnels at various hospitals and so far tunnels have been installed each at CD hospital, LD hospital, GB Panth and JVC. Besides, two tunnels have been installed at SMHS and two at SKIMS for decontamination and sanitization.

He further said that the sanitization of hospitals by the corporation is a regular affair to contain spread of COVID.

Srinagar, Mar 29 :  Director, Shere-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, Dr AG Ahanger today appealed to people not to pay heed to unverified reports attributed to him on the social media regarding the spread of Coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir 

A message, which is being circulated on social networking sites attributing Director SKIMS to have said that corona cases in Kashmir would increase and followed by decline.

The Director SKIMS in an official statement issued here said that this message is sheer imagination and has not been communicated by the Director himself or his office.

Srinagar, Mar 29 :  School Education Department has directed all the Chief Education Officers to submit bank account details of eligible students/ under parents within ten -days for crediting the cooking cost of Mid-Day Meal Scheme directly to them via Direct Benefit Transfer mode.

The Government has also decided that two-month advance dry ration (Rice) would be provided to the eligible children through the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.

The initiative was taken in view of the closure of schools due to Covid-19 outbreak.

Principal Secretary School Education Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon has already directed Chief Education Officers (CEOs) to distribute two-month advance Dry Ration (Rice) to the eligible 886905 children (Primary 584387) & (Upper Primary 302518) in all districts of J&K.

Dr Samoon said the 4700.76 mt tonnes of food grains for 1st quarter of 2020-21 has already been approved for distribution to eligible children in J&K by Mid-day meal directorate.

He added that the initiative taken by the Lt Governor would continue till the situation returns to normal.

It is pertinent to mention that Mid-Day meal scheme is aimed to improve the Nutritional status of the children from classes I to VIII besides encouraging poor children to attend more regularly. According to the scheme, every child enrolled in the primary class is provided a free supply of 100 grams of food grains per day and 150 grams are provided to every child of Upper Primary respectively.

The Scheme has also a provision to spent Rs. 4.48 for cooking purposes for every child of Primary level per day and Rs. 6.71 for every Upper Primary level child per day.

Mission Director Mid-Day Meal scheme Dr Arun Manhas said they have received good response from CEOs and already more than 60% of bank account details of students have been submitted to the directorate.

“We are completing the account collection process within the stipulated time,” he said.

Srinagar, Mar 27 :  In view of restrictions on public movement put in place in an effort to contain spread of the coronavirus infection the Srinagar administration is delivering food grains and LPG at the doorsteps of residents of the district.

Home-deliveries are starting tomorrow on March 28 and will continue for a full week. The district administration has devised a comprehensive plan to ensure each of over 2.6 lakh households gets quota without having to move out of their homes.

It has divided different zones of the district into sub-zones and planned distribution in a manner which ensures both reaching-out to all households in all areas and strict adherence to all advisories and guidelines in efforts to contain spread of coronavirus.

The district has been divided into 34 zones and in each zone the distribution will take place for three days. During the first three days starting tomorrow the distribution will be made in 6 zones including Habak, Hawal, Hazratbal, Rajbagh, Rambagh and Mehjoor Nagar, through their fair price shops.

Food grains being distributed to residents include rice as well as wheat. Residents will be delivered items at their doorsteps.

Similar distribution plan has been chalked out for delivery of LPG to consumers which also starts tomorrow. Consumers have been asked to raise requests for their requirement with their service agencies and be rest assured that LPG will be delivered to them at their doorsteps.

The distribution of food grains and LPG is being conducted under the supervision of Sajad Qadri who has posted as Officer on Special Duty at DC Office Srinagar to assist the DC.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary who is supervising and monitoring all COVID-19 containment efforts in the district has assured of guaranteed home delivery of both food grains and LPG to all households appealing to one and all to stay home and help break the chain of transmission in efforts to contain spread of this deadly infection.

It is notable that the number of COVID-19 positive cases in the district has now risen to 9 including 4 reported today. The home delivery of essential commodities is a part of an elaborate set of measures put in place in the district to contain spread of this infection.

Srinagar, Mar 26 :  In view of COVID-19 outbreak, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor and overall in-charge of Coronavirus Control Efforts (CCE) for Kashmir Division, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today said that the health of the people is his prime concern.

To achieve cent percent results, The Advisor is holding a series of meeting on daily basis to review arrangement put in place by line departments in this regard besides, keeping a close watch on the present situation across Kashmir Division.

Advisor directed all Deputy Commissioners to strengthen ground surveillance teams and track the absconding recent travelers, of other states & abroad, on war footing basis and put them at nearby health institutions immediately for proper screening. 

The Advisor appealed the people to take the fight against novel Coronavirus infection seriously and come forward to furnish the information of absconding recent traveler, if any, in their locality to district control rooms or to nearby health institutions.

“In present situation, Nambardhars, Sarpanchs, panchs and Councillors should play important role for door to door survey to identify suspected persons”, Khan added. 

Khan appealed the citizens to stay indoors and maintain partial lockdown for the benefit of their and their loved ones health.

“People should follow the health advisories which are issued by government in letter and spirit and cooperate with government in present exigency”, he said.

Advisor Baseer Khan made these remarks while chairing a meeting to review the preparedness and arrangements made by district administrations of Bandipora and Kupwara for the containment of the Coronovirus infection.

The meeting was informed that 1000 quarantine rooms each were identified by the twin district administrations at different locations with round the clock basic amenities besides health facilities.

It is given out that the ration will be distributed within five days through home delivery and that there is sufficient stock of LPG and Kerosene oil in these districts.

It was given out that 80 groceries stores were identified for home delivery in the twin districts and transport is being provided by the district administrations. Each district has established three 24X7 control rooms at Tehsil, Block and CMO level to provide information to distress and anxiety callers. 

For projected demands, Khan reiterated that funds are not the constraint and all requisite medical equipments will be supplied within two days to the twin districts besides, Personal Protection Equipments will also be provided to all Front-line workers, he added.

Advisor directs Deputy Commissioners to strictly implement Lock-Down across the twin districts.

He directed the concerned to inform the Masjid Committees regarding the present situation and convince them not to hold congregation prayers in mosques.

“From Social Distancing, we could break the chain of infection of Coronavirus disease’’, he reiterated.

Police shall strictly enforce lock-down and FIRs should be register against the violators, he added.

He also directed district administrations to issue emergency passes to the essential services employees and other related persons, after proper verification.

Advisor emphasized that PRIs shall be roped in for (IEC) Information, Education, and Communication activities to inform general public regarding the health advisories.

Advisor Baseer Khan stressed the concerned officers to maintain high level of vigil and alertness regarding COVID-19 scare across the valley.

Concerned officials were present in the meeting where as Deputy Commissioners participated in the meeting through video conferencing.

Srinagar, Mar 26 :  Under the directions of the District Magistrate, Shopian, the Assistant Director Food, arranged for ration distribution at the doorstep of the Shopian consumers.

The Food and Supplies department also directed the Ghat Munshi's to distribute ration among the population while keeping in view that no law is violated and proper social distancing guidelines are strictly followed.

Srinagar, Mar 26 :  In view of the surfacing of four more coronavirus positive cases in the district on Wednesday, the District Magistrate Bandipora, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza, has ordered strict imposition of restrictions in the district.

According to the order issued by District Magistrate under Section 144 of CrPC, there shall be complete closure of all places of worship.

“No religious congregation shall be permitted without any exception. However, in case of funerals, congregation of not more than 20 persons will be permitted’, the order reads.

The order further reads that no movement of persons, assembly, gathering or procession shall be allowed in the whole district including towns and villages and no public and private transport shall ply in the District till 14th of April, 2020.

The DM also ordered a complete shutdown of all the offices except Health, Police, Home Guards, Civil Defence, Fire and Emergency Service, Disaster Management and Prisons.

District Administration, Treasury, Electricity, Water & Sanitation, government employees on assigned duties related to containment of spread of Corona Virus have been asked to work with minimum number of employees after obtaining movement passes.

There shall be complete shutdown in the district and all private and public establishments shall remain shut except those dealing with essential services and commodities as notified earlier, which shall be provided passes for minimal staff required for the operations.

The Law enforcing agencies have been asked to ensure strict implementation of the order and strict action against violators.

The order further states that the decision to impose strict restrictions has been taken as a preventive measure in view of the increased number of coronavirus positive cases in the district.

DC Bandipora appealed the general public to cooperate with the administration and ensure strict adherence to the order warning that the violation of the order would constitute criminal offence and attract strict action under Section 188 of IPC.

The district administration has put in place a mechanism to ensure uninterrupted supplies and deliveries of essential services to the general public of the district. He said essential commodities will be home-delivered to residents as part of this mechanism.

Srinagar, Mar 26 :  In view of increased number of persons infected with coronavirus — now gone up to five — and in an effort to contain spread of the infection in the district the District Magistrate Srinagar has ordered closure of all places of worship in the district.

Major shrines and gurdwaras supported the decision of the administration and made the initiative in this regard.

Some of these closing gates in support of the call as soon as requested Thursday morning include - among others - the revered Hazratbal shrine, Naqshband shrine, Dastgeer Sahib shrine and Chattipadshahi gurdwara.

Concerned officers are on the ground reaching out across the district to ensure closure of all places of worship including all mosques and gurdwaras as well as temples and churches.

The DM has appealed to management committees of all places of worship and all residents of the district to cooperate with and support the administration in this decision taken for the greater good of the people in view of the prevailing health situation.

He has urged one and all to ensure strict implementation of the order until further notice. He said it a difficult decision but an unavoidable measure keeping in view the threat that this infection poses.

Srinagar, Mar 25 :  The Srinagar control room established for coordinating elaborate measures put in place in the district in efforts to contain spread of the coronavirus infection has received complaints about over 400 persons who have returned from outside countries in the recent past but have hidden their travel histories.

These complaints have been received during this past week after the first positive case of the district surfaced on March 18.

Of these over 200 have been verified and found to be true so far after surveillance teams traced the persons these complaints were about. Of the latter around 150 persons with recent travel histories to outside countries have been shifted into quarantine.

Investigations and verifications have revealed that these persons have returned from different countries which among others include Italy, Iran, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Hungary, Taiwan, Malaysia and Kazakhstan.

The remaining 50-odd persons were found to have had national travel histories and were put under home quarantine whereas the remaining number of the total number of complaints received are under process of tracking.

It should be noted that a well-equipped control room with a robust mechanism for coordination and tracing of suspected cases has been established in the district. It includes an elaborate mechanism of surveillance with over 50 teams constituted as part of it assisting it in tracing suspected cases.

In addition to a full-fledged infrastructural set-up which includes IT-enabled apparatus and mechanism the control room is maned with a dedicated team of IT and healthcare professionals. It operates under the supervision of the Additional Deputy Commissioner Masrat Hashim who has been designated as the nodal officer for it.

It should be noted that a total of around 1750 persons with recent travel histories to outside countries have been put under quarantine in 40 out of 90 facilities set up so far in the district.

Each of these quarantine facilities set up in well-equipped hotels and government accommodations have been equipped with kinds of facilities for comfortable quarantine of those shifted thereinto. Quarantine facilities set up in the district are operating under the supervision of the Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar M Haneef Balkhi.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary is monitoring all these efforts round-the-clock to ensure there are no lapses in preventive measures the administration has put in place for containment of spread of coronavirus in the district. He is also monitoring the facilities provided to inmates at quarantine centres.

Srinagar, Mar 25 :  In the wake of the surfacing of two more coronavirus positive cases in the district the District Magistrate Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary has ordered imposition of very strict restrictions in the district.

The order issued under Section 144 of CrPC states that there shall be complete restrictions on public movement including private transport and operation of businesses and activities across the district up to April 15.

It states that only officials of essential services departments as designated and certified by their heads will be allowed to move on the production of movement passes issued by the District Magistrate adding that the lowest minimum number of officials are being provided passes and allowed to move.

The order states that doctors, paramedical staff, ambulance operators and those officials assigned by the district disaster management authority on COVID-19 emergency response duty will be allowed to move on production of valid identify cards.

Concerned agencies have been asked to ensure strict implementation of the order and strict action against violators.

The order states that the decision to impose strict restrictions has been taken as a preventive measure in view of the increased number of coronavirus positive cases — now grown to three — surfacing in the district and are aimed at containing spread of the infection.

Dr Shahid appealed to the general public to cooperate with the administration and ensure strict adherence to the order. He said violation of the order would constitute criminal offence and attract strict action under Section 188 of IPC.

He said the district administration has put in place a mechanism to ensure uninterrupted supplies and deliveries of essential services to the general public of the district. He said essential commodities will be home-delivered to residents as part of this mechanism.

These restrictions will come into effect from midnight tonight and will remain enforced till April 15.

Head, Department of Radiation Oncology, SKIMS, Prof Muhammad Maqbool Lone said, "we have created elaborative measures as far as the cancer patients are concerned.” He said that amid the health advisories, the department would also provide round the clock consultations to the cancer patients of Jammu and Kashmir on the dedicated phone number.

It may be recalled that more than 5700 cancer cases have been recorded in hospitals across Kashmir in 2019 with figures revealing that the incidence is on a rise in the Valley.

The data maintained by the Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) at SKIMS Soura reveals that it registered 4000 fresh cancer cases in the previous year.

Srinagar, Mar 23 :  Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan, who is overall in-charge of coronavirus control efforts in Kashmir, Monday inspected various Covid-19 screening centres to take stock of arrangements put in place at these facilities for detection of suspected cases.

The Advisor visited Zig, Jawahar Tunnel, Toll Post Lower Munda and Emergency Hospital Qazigund to take first-hand assessment of arrangements for screening of passengers and travellers arriving Kashmir valley.

District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Dar, District Development Commissioner Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat, ADDC Anantnag, Khwaja Nazir Ahmad, SSP Kulgam, Gurinder Pal Sing, CMOs of both the districts and other concerned accompanied the Advisor.

The Advisor directed the concerned to ensure 100 percent screening of all the passengers and travellers to check the spread of novel coronavirus. He said that two more screening centres shall be established at the Toll Post to ensure hassle-free screening of the passengers.

He also directed for ensuring smooth movement of various vehicles including the contract carriers, trucks and other essential supply carriers through designated screening centres.

Earlier, at Screening Centre Zig, the Advisor was briefed by both the DDCs regarding the arrangements put in place at various screening centres in their respective jurisdictions. He was informed that screening centres and help desks equipped with doctors and technical staff have been deputed at designated locations including Railway Stations and main entry points of both the districts.

It was said that sufficient quarantine wards have been kept ready in all sub-divisions and Tehsils of the districts. In addition, special teams have been constituted to monitor the situation at District, Block and Zonal levels.

The Advisor was informed that in Anantnag isolation beds are being provided to GMC Anantnag, adding that quarantine facilities have been made at PHC Verinag, SDH Dooru, Emergency Hospital Qazigund, SDH Kokernag, PHC Aakora, PHC Sallar, PHC Adlash, PHC Pahalgam, NTPHC Veeri, and SDH Bijbehara besides at five JKTDC Huts at Pahalgam.

It was given out that 1000-bedded facility will be made available at various GDCs and Eqlaviya Model School at Salia. 

The Advisor was also informed that District Administration Anantnag has put 50 students who arrived from Bangladesh in quarantine at Pahalgam after screening under medical surveillance as a precautionary measure.

It was said that the district is geared up to fight the threat of Covid–19 outbreak, adding that fumigation and sanitation drives are being carried out at all public places across the district.

The Advisor was also briefed about the surveillance teams that have been already constituted for thermal screening of the individuals having travel history of affected countries, besides Rapid Response Teams are working in unison with the surveillance teams which report on a daily basis.

Meanwhile, Advisor Baseer Khan directed both the DDCs to involve PRIs to educate the public regarding the measures to prevent spread of Covid–19. He sought cooperation from the general public to tackle the situation and to prevent spread of the infection. He also appealed the people to strictly adhere to government advisories.

Srinagar, Mar 22 :  As a precautionary measure aimed at preventing spread of the coronavirus infection the District Magistrate, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary has ordered imposition of restrictions across Srinagar up to March 31.

The order directs that all kinds of business establishments will remain closed and bans all kinds of assembly of more than 3 persons from 8 pm tonight to 6 pm on March 31.

The order states that essential services as notified vide J&K government order number 60-FCS&CA of 2020 dated 22.03.2020 will be exempted from the restrictions.

Government officials of essential services departments and those assigned on duties related to efforts for containment of spread of coronavirus infection are also exempted from the restrictions.

Print and electronic media organisations including FM radio stations and cremations and funerals will also be exempted.

Concerned agencies have been directed to ensure strict enforcement of restrictions as ordered across the district.

The order issued under Section 144 of CrPC states that the decision to impose restrictions has been taken as a preventive measure and is aimed at preventing spread of the coronavirus infection.

Dr Shahid appealed to the general public to cooperate with the administration and ensure strict adherence to the order. He said violation of the order would constitute criminal offence and attract strict action under Section 188 of IPC.

He said the district administration has put in place a mechanism to ensure uninterrupted provision and supply and delivery of essential services to the public. He also said that a proper grievance redressal mechanism is in place to ensure quick redress of concerns.

Srinagar, Mar 22 :  Amid Coronavirus threat, the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole, directed all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to ensure smooth movement of essential services vehicles like Health, Ration, Water, PDD and other services across valley.

In case of short fall of manpower in essential services department, he also directed DCs to take employees from non-essential services departments voluntary and fulfill the gaps.

It is mandatory that essential services departments perform their duties without any kind of hassle.

Due to the low footfall on roads, Pole also directed DCs to ensure proper sanitation on main roads, drains and other neglected places in their respective districts.

He appealed people to co-operate with the administration and adhere to the advisories issued by Health Department to stay safe and to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Srinagar, Mar 22 :  Amid Coronavirus (COVID-19) scare, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Pandurang K Pole today visited Chest Disease (CD) hospital at Drugjan, Dalgate and Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial (JLMN) Hospital Rainawari to review ground zero arrangements made by health departments.

On the occasion, he was briefed by concerned officers about arrangements which have been put in place for isolation and quarantine purpose at the hospitals which include adequate stock of testing kits, protection gears and other equipments besides ventilators, to tackle the spread of Corona Virus.

During his visit to the quarantine facility established at he asked the officials to follow the proper health guidelines carefully. He directed the officials to provide every care and facility to the suspected patients.

The Divisional Commissioner directed hospital authorities for maintaining proper cleanliness and sanitation with fumigation in and around the premises of health institutes.

Director Health Services Dr Sameer Mattoo, Principal GMC Dr Saima Rashid, Deputy Director Health Services and other concerned officers were accompanied with the Divisional Commissioner.

Srinagar, Mar 22 :  Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan today visited Srinagar Airport to review the preparedness of the Divisional Administration to tackle the spread of COVID-19.

After reaching the Airport terminal, the Advisor was passed through Health Screening desk where doctors tested him properly. 

Khan emphasized upon the concerned officers that same testing exercise should be carried for VIPs and bureaucrats as is being practiced in case of all other arriving travellers and nobody should be allowed to skip from health screening besides making mandatory for every passenger to fill self-declaration form before leaving the help desks.

The Advisor reviewed the arrangements which are put in place for screening the passengers arriving daily at Srinagar airport. He was informed that five Coronavirus help desks have been established at Srinagar Airport with adequate number of doctors, paramedical staff, Infra-red thermometers, personal protection gears, special ambulances and other equipment.

Khan inspected all Coronavirus help desks and enquired about the staff strength, equipment, advisory notes, self-declaration forms and other measures. He directed the concerned that if any passenger having symptoms of Coronavirus is detected he or she should be immediately sent to quarantine and the desks should share details with higher authorities on real time basis.

Later, the Advisor visited city quarantine centers and inspected the rooms which have been reserved for administrative quarantine for suspected COVID-19 patients, especially people being brought back from Coronavirus-hit countries.

The Advisor was informed that all the required quarantine facilities like rest and recuperation have been established. Administrative arrangements like identification of buildings, perimeter security, food and water supply, bed and linen, laundry, housekeeping, entertainment, sewage disposal, transportation has been organized at the centers.

Further, Medical support like daily examination, laboratory testing, advice on disinfection and bio-medical waste management, public health measures, management of symptomatic patients, surveillance, creation and referral to isolation wards at nearest hospital has been organized by Health Departments in liaison with District administrations.

The Advisor directed the officials that all suspected cases should complete the quarantine period fully and their results should come negative twice and only after that they should be allowed to leave the facility. He also directed the officials not to share names of the quarantined people to the media, citing privacy.

Khan directed the officials not to take any chances and follow the guidelines with utmost care besides asking the quarantined people to cooperate with the administration which is vital for their well-being and their family.

Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr Sameer Mattoo, Principal GMC, Srinagar, Dr Saima Rashid and other concerned officers accompanied the Advisor.
