RAJOURI, AUGUST 28: Minister for Food Civil Supplies and
Consumer Affairs and Information, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said the government has
undertaken a slew of developmental projects to transform Peeri into a central
place in the region for trade and commerce. He was speaking in a public meeting
here today at Peeri, convened to have a firsthand knowledge of day to day
issues being faced by the public.
People who came from Peeri and adjoining areas projected multitude of
developmental issues and requested for time bound redress of their issues. They
also demanded up-gradation of schools, Degree College at Peeri, ambulance for
Public Health Centre(PHC), Rajouri-Peeri bus service, fencing of school
buildings, foot bridges across rivulets for safe passage of students and
provisions of electric poles, wires and transformers. They also requested for
macadamization of main and link roads, sub-centers of animal and sheep
husbandry departments at Peeri, primary school at Nagus.
The Minister assured the public for early redress of their genuine
issues. He said the Government has already undertaken a slew of important development
projects in the region to transform it into a central place and a commercial
hub. “To begin with, infrastructure for Girls’ Hostel,
Block Development Council, Food Store and Tehsil Supply Office is being
created,” he said, adding the Rajouri-Peeri road, link roads and roads connecting
the area with Proori, Darhal and Koteranka would be macadamized and developed
on priority. He also assured that an ambulance would be provided for PHC Peeri
within a week time.
The Minister passed a host of directions to the departments for
expediting the pace of developmental works in the area. He asked Executive
Engineer PWD to start macadamization of Rajouri-Peeri road once the monsoon is
over and ensure its timely completion.
The concerned junior engineer of PDD was also directed to erect all
electric poles which were provided to the people three months back and project
a consolidated figure of more poles required in the area through Executive
Engineer PDD.
Mr. Zulfkar Ali also impressed upon the revenue officials that no
project should be put on halt for want of land. They were also asked to
regularly check the attendance of the employees of other departments within
their jurisdiction so as to ensure the punctuality and work culture in the
government offices.
