New Delhi, Aug 2 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that if people resolved to make the right choices evils such as corruption, casteism, drug-abuse and crime could be overcome. Mr Modi, who was addressing via video conference on the occasion of the 99th birthday celebrations of Dada Vaswani in Pune, praised him for his selfless service to humanity and appreciated Dada Vaswani’s thoughts on “Making the Right Choice” Praising Dada Vaswani for his selfless service to humanity, he said, 'If people resolve to make the right choice, evils such as corruption, casteism, drug-abuse and crime can be overcome.' Referring to the 75th anniversary of India's independence in 2022, Mr Modi said India must resolve today, to fulfill the dreams of the freedom fighters by then. He urged the Sadhu Vaswani Mission to join this effort, in whatever way it could. Recalling that he had first met Dada Vaswani 27 years ago at the World Religions Conference in the United Nations, he also recalled their recent meeting in Pune in 2013. Dada Vaswani thanked the Prime Minister and described him as one of the greatest leaders of the world today. He said initiatives launched by the PM, such as Jan Dhan Yojana, Make in India and Swachh Bharat 'are having a visible impact'. He said India had changed a lot in last three years. He also said that not politics, but right education at the right time was the key to nation-building. "We should all strive to build a nation that all Indians could be proud of," an official statement here said. UNI
