SRINAGAR, AUGUST 25: A meeting
of the Committee on Ethics of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was held
here today under the Chairmanship of MLA, Abdul Rahim Rather to discuss the
ethical and moral responsibilities of the legislators.
Threadbare discussions were held on the internal and external factors
that have an influences on ethics of a members and that of the house. The role
of Ethics Committee in addressing various issues of the legislators and future
course of the action for the Committee were also discussed.
Legislators, Abdul Rashid Dar, Raja Manzoor Ahmed and Abdul Majid Larmi
attended the meeting and gave their views and suggestions regarding how to
improve the ethical conducts of the members.
It was discussed in the meeting that the Committee will tour to
Assemblies and Councils outside the state especially Southern States to observe
the rules and procedures and conduct of business by the legislatures of these
states before the budget session.
It was also decided that to have a meeting with the dignitaries and the
Ethics Committee of the Parliament.
Secretary, Legislative Assembly, M R Singh, Deputy Secretary, LA Abdul
Qayoom Mir and other senior officers and officials of Assembly Secretariat were
present in the meeting.
