Srinagar, Aug 19 :  An amount of Rs 123 point 5 crore will  be utilised to develop power sector under Centrally-Sponsored Schemes in the frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara, officials said today. They said that for renovation, modernisation and augmentation of 33/11 kv receiving stations, Rs 14.78 crore stands released for Kupwara and Handwara towns. “Seven villages are being covered under Rural Electrification Scheme, Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DUGJY) while Machil, Karen and Teethwal receiving stations will be upgraded by November this year at a cost of Rs 108.72 crore,” they said. Under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), they said 2,897 school buildings have been completed while under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) 22 high schools and ten middle and other school buildings have been renovated and four girls hostels are under construction by the Public Works Department. During 2016-17, 26 lakh man days of work was generated for 86,000 job card holders who have been registered for 100 days of work in the district, besides others. They said that 87,796 Individual Household Latrine Application (IHHL) units were targeted for 2013-19 of which 15,461 units were completed during 2016-17 while 32,000 IHHL units have been taken up by Panchayat Raj institutions. “Rs 547.90 lakh were made available to the district of which 98.16 lakhs stands utilised till July-2017,” they added. They said 537 IHHL units are under execution in which 72 are completed and under Community Sanitary Complexes (CSCs) in towns. “Rs 14 lakhs stands have been released for construction of six CSCs, while under Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Rs 19 crore have been spent under DISHA, covering 23,180 infants till July-2017,” they said. The District Administration in collaboration with Rural Development Department and ICDS would provide Rs 7 lakhs under Convergence Plan to meet some urgent tasks. UNI
