JAMMU, AUGUST 31: A sailing
expedition by NCC cadets of Jammu & Kashmir was launched at Govind Sagar
reservoir built on river Sutlej on Bhakra dam by 1 J&K Naval unit NCC
Srinagar. The expedition will be held from August 30, 2017 to September 08,
2017. The expedition was flagged off by the Commanding Officer of 1 Himachal
Pradesh Naval Unit NCC, Commander Sajjan Kumar from water sports centre
Bilaspur.
35 boys and 25 girl cadets from different regions of J&K are
participating in the event for the next ten days and will be put through a
glimpse of life at sea. The team will be guided and navigated by the highly
skilled instructors of Indian Navy. During the expedition the team will be
covering a distance of 400 km and will be closely monitored and supported.
To make the expedition more interesting and beneficial, visit to various
important installations and religious places of interest in this region will
also be undertaken.
The cadets were put through a rigorous training schedule at Mansar Lake
in Jammu to take on the challenges of this expedition which was closely
supervised by the group Commander of NCC Srinagar Group, Commander, Brigadier
AS Kasana, VrC and supported by NCC Dte J&K which extended all possible help and
support to accomplish this feat.
