Agartala, Aug 9 : Ahead of assembly election, left front government in Tripura has decided to launch free dialysis service in five district hospitals of the state on Independence Day under Prime Minister National Dialysis Program (PMNDP) with cent percent central funding. At first phase, free dialysis facility will be available for the patients suffering from kidney related disease at state referral hospital IGM, Udaipur hospital for Gomati district, Shantirbazar hospital for South Tripura district, Kulai hospital for Dhalai district and Dharmanagar hospital for North Tripura. Health minister Badal Choudhury said that the dialysis service has already been started in IGM and Udaipur and rest would be started from August 15. The service will be completely free of cost for all socio-economic categories and a Kolkata based service provider was selected for the purpose. “The payment of the service provider will be done through National Health Mission and as per the norm, the patient party need not to pay a single penny for this, which will be formally launched on August 15,” Choudhury said. However, the announcement of the decision of free dialysis has created controversy, as the state government did not mentioned that the free dialysis service is under PMNDP at central sponsorship rather finance minister told media that in providing the service state will spent more than a crore of rupees from own ex-chequer. BJP president Biplab Kumar Deb alleged that left front government has been lying the people for past three decades to remain in power. All the central government projects and programs launched by the centre including MGNREGA, Forest Right Act for tribal people and health care and education projects, CPI(M) publicised it as their own projects. “Even during inauguration of the projects Chief Minister Manik Sarkar doesn’t have the courtesy to invite central government minister or representatives rather the party leaders utterly lied the people and always criticise the central government who party is there. Basically, this party is fraud and dishonest and always practice dishonesty,” Biplab alleged. He said, the finance minister had announced PMNDP in last budget considering the sufferings of the people from expensive dialysis services in the hospitals and accordingly Tripura government has already received Rs 1.92 crore to extend the facilities in all the district hospitals free of cost but still the state government could not ensure in three districts – Sepahijala, Khowai and Unokoti due to infrastructure problem. Deb alleged that because of inadequate cooperation from the left front government in Tripura, a large number of development project is getting delayed in implementation and in many a case the state government has not been able to implement the projects properly.
