J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans (JKSABDK) Daljit Singh
Chib today chaired a meeting to discuss the steps to be taken for effective
implementation of crop insurance schemes, Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loans and
establishment of paddy procurement centres.
The officers of Food Corporation of India, NABARD, Agriculture,
Horticulture, Animal and Sheep Husbandry , Floriculture Departments, Board
members, representatives of insurance companies and progressive farmers
participated in the meeting.
The GM, FCI informed the meeting that paddy procurement
centres will be established in Akhnoor, Kathua and Bishnah well before harvest
so that farmers don’t face any difficulty in selling their produce. He further informed that
minimum support price of paddy has been increased by Rs. 80 per
quintal while that of maize has been fixed at Rs 1425 per quintal for the benefit of
farmers.
Speaking at the meeting, Daljeet Singh Chib said the government has taken various
path-breaking steps for increasing the income of the farmers and realising the
PM Narendra Modi’s dream of doubling their income by 2022.
He directed the representatives of the insurance companies to create
awareness among the farmers about the benefits of crop insurance schemes to
overcome the losses incurred due to the crop damages due to different reasons.
The Vice Chairman assured the farmers that he will personally look into
the problems being faced by them and advised them to use ultra-modern
technology to boost their production and increase their income. There is a need
to involve the Kisan Board members in the awareness programmes so that they can
share their experiences with the farmers, he stressed.
