Srinagar,
Sept 15: Advising militant leadership to realise the futility of armed
conflict, main opposition National Conference (NC) working president Omar
Abdullah said that 29 years of violence in Jammu and Kashmir has achieved
nothing. The former chief minister was commenting on statement of Inspector
General of Police (IGP) Muneer Ahmad Khan that militant leadership has to be
eliminated because they also misguide the children of the state and lure them
into violence. Security forces in a brief and clean operation killed
Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) chief Abu Islmail and his associate Abu Qasim, residents
of Pakistan, who were involved in attack on Amarnath yatra bus in Anantnag that
left eight pilgrims dead and over 20 others injured in July this year. Taking
to micro-blogging site Twitter, Mr Abdullah said, “ At some point the militant
leadership has to realise the futility of armed conflict. Twenty-nine years of
violence in J&K has achieved nothing”. Mr Abdullah also retweeted two
tweets “I take this opportunity to congratulate team. This operation is a
result of ppl's prayers: IGP Kashmir, Muneer Khan” and “Operation was important
because we are expecting vacuum in the top leadership of LeT: BS Raju, GOC
Victor Force”. UNI
