Various water sports events, including Shikara Race, will be held during festival, which is being organised by Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Declaring open the festival, Director General of Police (DGP), S P Vaid said that the event is being held under Civic Action Programme (CAP) with the aim to engaging the youth in healthy competitions of sports so that face of every youth shines with smiles.
Dr Vaid said that Jammu and Kashmir Police organises various sports activities under CAP for the holistic development of State youth to channelize their energies in positive directions.
He said that a number of sports programmes have been charted out, lined up and are going on throughout the state which are providing a platform to the youth to showcase their talent.
Referring to the achievements of the state in the water sports, Dr Vaid hoped that the players and teams of the state will touch new heights in future.
While complementing the Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police (JKAP) for launching cleaning drive in Dal Lake, Dr Vaid said that all of us have to put in efforts to save the Dal, which is soul of Srinagar.
The DGP complemented the Armed Police for organising the festival and said that a lot of efforts go into making such events successful.
Dragon boat, Cano-Polo, water ski, Water Polo swimming, free style swimming of Boys, relay swimming, Kayaking, Canoeing, Various water sports persons and bodies are participating in the festival.
The festival will conclude on September 20 and various sports bodies and persons are participating in the festival. UNI
