Srinagar, Sep 18: Announcing that local militants who wanted to surrender will be given an opportunity to restart a new life, Director General of Police (DGP) Dr S P Vaid today said about 60 youth were saved from joining terror groups in the valley.
      Our sincere efforts will be to bring the misguided youths back to national mainstream provided they did not indulge any militant activities, Dr Vaid told reporters on the sideline of a function here today.
       The DGP said we have directed all security force agencies that if any militant wanted to surrender to lead a normal and peaceful life he should be given an opportunity. However, he warned that if anybody refuse to surrender and open fire, he will have to face the consequenes.
      He said state police has saved about 60 youth from joining militancy in the Kashmir valley during the past few months. The misguided youths are being conselled to join the national mainstream and lead a peaceful and normal life, he said adding state government and police will provide them every chance to start afresh. 
  Dr Vaid said youth of the valley have now understood the fate of violence and  because of this reasons militant outfit are now finding it difficult to get self styled commanders. UNI
