Maharashtra, Sept 20: At least 56 people lost their lives in rain-related
incidents in Marathwada region comprising eight districts between June 1 and
September 17 due to heavy rainfall, including lightning, house collapse, gusty
winds and washed away in floods water. According to divisional official sources
here today said out of 56, most o the casualties reported due to lightning and
washed away in flood waters. Highest 22 were reported from Nanded district
followed by eight in Parbhani district, six each in Aurangbad and Jalna
district, four each in Beed, Hingoli and Osmanabad district and two in Latur
district. Of them, 42 were given government compensation of Rs 4 lakh, the
sources added. They said during the rainy period, 407 domestic animals,
including small and big, were also killed in the region. UNI
