New Delhi, Sept 18: The Government today decided to constitute a six-member committee of secretaries 
to monitor the implementation and progress of measures to ensure safety in schools.
         The decision was taken at a high-level meeting co-chaired by Women and Child Development minister 
Maneka Gandhi and Human Resource Development minister Prakash Javadekar here on safety protocol 
to be put in schools following the shocking murder of a seven-year-old in Ryan International
School on September 8. 
        While a review was undertaken of existing measures, new suggestions were put forward for 
implementation. 
        The committee will include Secretaries of the ministries of Women and Child Development, Human
Resource Development, Social Justice and Empowerment, Tribal and Minority Affairs and Drinking 
Water and Sanitation.
        It was decided to hold a series of meetings to develop a roadmap for implementation of the recommended 
measures. 
        Besides the ministers, officials and representatives from Central Board for Secondary Education, Central 
Institute of Educational Technology (CIET), National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), 
Kendriya Vidyalaya schools, NCPCR put forth their suggestions and challenges ahead.  UNI
