SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 26: Deputy Chief
Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today called on several Union Ministers and discussed
various centrally sponsored schemes being implemented in the State and also
urged for introduction of new programmes to supplement the
developmental initiatives being undertaken by the State Government.
While
discussing the initiatives being undertaken in the housing and urban
development sector with the union Minister of State for Housing and Urban
Development Hardeep Singh Puri, the Deputy CM called for broadening the ambit
of the central schemes so that many more such schemes can be introduced in the
state. He said that these would ensure that the people get the necessary and
requisite facilities and they are brought at par with the metropolitan cities
of the Country.
Dr Singh also
asked for expediting the drainage project being executed by NBCC and called for
taking up the left over work in Jammu City and also ensuring completion of the
one undertaken in Srinagar. He also urged for bringing under the ambit of AMRUT
three major cities of Jammu i.e Katra, Udhampur and Kathua. “Since Katra city
is among the 10 iconic cities of the country so the need for taking up it under
AMRUT is very essential.”
The Deputy
Chief Minister also discussed the prestigious Tawi River Front Project and
discussed the broader contours of the project which is one of the most prestigious
projects of Jammu city by which the river front of Tawi would be developed on
the pattern of the Sabarmati river. He also discussed the various initiatives
being undertaken by Jammu Development Authority (JDA), Srinagar Development
Authorities (SDA) in the proper development of the capital cities and also
augmenting the much needed parking facilities and other civic amenities.
Dr. Singh later called on the Union Minister for
Roads, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and discussed several ongoing
projects with him. He also called for introducing several new projects in the
State as well.
