No hindrance in traffic movement on Kargil-Leh road: Govt

KARGIL, AUGUST 31: All the vehicles with state permit shall be allowed to ply on Jammu- Manali National Highway via-Leh and Kargil districts without any hindrance, and no traffic movement shall be affected on the Kargil-Leh road by the taxi unions of both the districts.

It was decided at a joint meeting of officers which was held  today at Tourist Dak Bungalow Hinaskot to discuss the  measures to be taken for ensuring smooth and hassle-free movement of taxis on the Kargil-Leh road. It was decided that there shall not be any traffic hindrance whatsoever on the Kargil-Leh road by the taxi unions of the both the districts  and barricades put on roads shall be removed immediately.

Necessary instructions to the concerned officers were passed to ensure strict implementation of agreement reached out on the directions of the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir in 2015.

 The Deputy Commissioner Kargil directed that the vehicles from Kargil halted at Hinaskot for transship should move towards Kargil immediately. The concerned traffic police and RTOs of both districts were directed to take strict action against the defaulters.  

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Prasanna Swami G and Deputy Commissioner Kargil Haji Gulzar Hussain, besides SSP Kargil Tsering Gyalpo, SHO Leh, Prosecuting Officer, Leh, officers of traffic police and Regional Transport Offices and President of the Taxi Union Kargil.
