Beti Bachoa Beti Padhao Week celebrated at Leh


Leh, Jan 24 :   As a part of “Beti Bachoa Beti Padhao Week” National Girl Child Day was observed in Leh at Sheynam Community Hall where DC/CEO LAHDC, Leh Sachin Kumar Vaishya was the chief guest on the occasion.

Director, Social Welfare Department, Ladakh, Mumtaz Ali, Councilors of LAHDC, Leh, ADC Leh, District Program Officer Leh, CMO Leh, SWO Leh, Sarpanches, members of Ama Tsogspa, staff and workers of ICDS and school girls were present on the occasion. 

DC, Leh speaking on the occasion said that Beti Bachao Beti Padao programme launched on Jan 22, 2015 was an initiative to improve the declining sex ratio in different states of India. He said that in North-East and Ladakh women are already empowered and in better position as compare to other parts of the country but he stressed on women to think on achieving higher places in male dominant spaces like politics and other higher posts in different fields. He said that such program shouldn’t remain confined to celebrations but should show results on ground in creating a better future for the girl children in Ladakh.

Mumtaz Ali in his speech said that girls play a vital role in moving the society forward and we all must value girls. He said that in the last one decade girls related issues have seen great improvement but there is still a lot to do for their progress. He added that through BBBP program awareness is being created to change the mindsets of people specially at rural level to avoid discrimination between boy and girl and to provide good education, health and future to their daughters also.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development and the Government of India launched National Girl Child Day in 2008 with the objectives to spread awareness among people about all the inequalities faced by girls in the country, to promotes awareness about the rights of a girl child, to increase awareness on the importance of girl education, health and nutrition and ensure equal opportunities and exposure.

Miss Padma chuskit a student JNV, Leh spoke on the occasion about the importance of Girl Child, similarly Miss Padma Chosdon a student of Moriavian Mission School, Leh make a vigorous speech on the topic of Importance of celebrating Girl Child Day. 

On the occasion, DC Leh felicitated the girls of Leh district in different field including Farhana Eliyas, recently bagged bronze middle in 3rd Khelo India Youth Games at Guwahati Assam, Mariyam Bano- 3rd position in 10th class (2019-20), Best NCC Cadet, 1st position in Chuna Hay Aasman (Singing Competition) of Govt. Girls Higher Sec. School Leh, Stanzin Yangskit - top position in 12th class (2019-20) in commerce stream from Govt. Hr. Sec. School Sumoor, Nobra, Yangchan, 12th class (2019-20) topper in Arts from Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Diskit, Nubra and the two speakers on the occasion Padma Chuskit of JNV School and Padma Chosdon of Moravian Mission School, Leh.

Full dress rehearsal of the Republic Day parade


Leh, Jan 24 :  A full dress rehearsal of the Republic Day parade was conducted successfully, today at Leh Polo-ground. The rehearsal is a precursor to the actual Republic Day parade scheduled to be held on January 26.

DC/CEO, LAHDC, Leh Sachin Kumar Vaishya unfurled the national tri-colour and took salute of the parade contingents.

For the first time after granting Union Territory for Ladakh, LG Ladakh, R.K. Mathur will unfolds the National tri-color flag on the occasion of upcoming 71st Republic day. This year the defense staff will also showcases their weapons and war equipment during the full dress rehearsal. 

A vigorous march past by the contingents of paramilitary forces, police, school children and various band parties in full uniform was performed with great zeal and enthusiasm. School children and other groups also presented their cultural items to be performed on Republic Day in full dress with different props.

Reports of full dress rehearsal for the upcoming celebration of 71st Republic day schedule to be held on 26 January were also held at different Sub-divisions of Nubra, Khaltsi and Nyoma.

Leh, July 08  :   Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh, Gyal P Wangyal inaugurated a Children’s Library at Primary School (Thugui Dumra) Spituk.

Secretary, Rural Development Department, Sheetal Nanda, Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Leh Avny Lavasa, Councilor Area Phuntsog Dorjey, Director Rural Development Department Qazi Sarwar, Additional Secretary, RDD, Rakesh Badiyal, Assistant Commissioner Development, Tsering Paldan, District Panchayat Officer Zakir Hussain, Sarpanches and Panches of Spituk and Choglamsar, concerned BDOs and Nambardars and people attended the inaugural ceremony.

Addressing a public gathering at Spituk, CEC said that LAHDC is fully committed for overall development of the people and urged them to let the Council know about their problems so that timely attention is given to address them. CEC said the pasteurization plant at Agling is all set to function within days and it would help in value addition of dairy products of the local farmers.

Welcoming the guests and audiences, Councilor Phuntsog Dorjey said that Rurban Mission is playing a key role in development of various much needed infrastructures in Spituk and Choglamsar area and the Arhat Community Hall at Spituk, link roads, street lights, waste management centre and Amusement Park at Choglamsar are some of the important components of this mission.

Later, Secretary Rural Development Sheetal Nanda inaugurated the newly installed Street Lights of Forest Bagh Choglamsar to Palam Bridge under Rurban Mission at an estimated cost of Rs 52 lakh. The DC/CEO, LAHDC, Leh Avny Lavasa and concerned officers and engineers were present.

Leh, July 06  :   Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Leh Sachin Kumar Vaishya today issued a conditional order to President, All Ladakh Taxi Union Cooperative (ALTUC) for immediate removal of unauthorized barricading and check posts in the district.

He issued the order based on the complaint received by the DC Office Leh regarding unauthorized installation of barricading (s) and Check post which are being used for unauthorized checking of vehicles by President ALTUC.

The order issued, directs the concerned that action shall be completed within 7 days from the date of promulgation of the order.

He further informed that no official permission has been granted to All Ladakh Taxi Union Cooperative for installing barricades and Check posts. These practices have further resulted into chaos among the travellers and causing obstruction on the national highway, resulting in safety hazards

Leh, July 04  :   Divisional Commissioner Ladakh, Saugat Biswas today informed that a roadmap has been prepared for making the Milk Pasteurization Plant Leh functional soon.

The Divisional Commissioner was speaking at a meeting which was attended by CEO LAHDC, Leh Avny Lavasa, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives, Assistant Commissioner Development, Exen M&RE PDD, Exen PHE and Executive members of Ladakh Milk Producer’s Cooperative Federation (LMPCF), Leh. 

The Divisional Commissioner appreciated the efforts put forth by the district administration in removing major bottlenecks coming in the way of functionalization of pasteurization plant.

On the occasion, Biswas in consultation with the stakeholders finalized the technical and operational measures to be taken for the sustainable functioning of the Plant. The road map of implementation was drawn out and instructions were given for making the plant functional by the July 15, 2019.

He urged the concerned Department to devise a systematic mechanism for streamlining processing, packaging, branding and marketing the pasteurized milk. It was said that Cooperatives and the Animal Husbandry Department will integrate the LMPCF in the supply chain.

Div Com urged the Milk Producers Cooperative Federation to make capital investment in packaging material and its printing and also in certain recurring operational costs. He asserted that uninterrupted functioning of this milk plant is in the overall interest of milk producers of Leh district, and subsequently Kargil too.

Directions were issued to the Engineers of PDD and PHE department to install of 100KV transformer, and bore well at the plant site respectively. ACD Leh was directed to complete the compound wall of the site within three weeks.

CEO LAHDC, Leh assured that training and handholding to the operating staff from the milk cooperatives will be arranged by the district administration.

Later, the Divisional Commissioner also visited the Milk Pasteurization Plant and took stock of the existing machinery and the new cooling infrastructure being put in place.

Leh, July 04  :   The Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh, Gyal P Wangyal has nominated Phuntsog Stanzin of Skurbuchan Constituency, Mumtaz Hussain of Chushot Constituency and Konchok Stanzin of Chushul Constituency as Executive Councilors in the Executive Council of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh.

While nominating them in a brief function held today at Council Secretariat, Gyal Wangyal said that the Executive Council of LAHDC, Leh has been lying vacant since few weeks in the wake of resignation tendered by Jamyang Tsering Namgyal from the post of Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Leh. He said that portfolios to the newly nominated Executive Councilors shall be allotted within few days.

It is pertinent to mention that Gyal P Wangyal who was holding the seat of Dy. Chairman of LAHDC Leh representing as Councilor of Sakti Constituency was elected unopposed as Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor of LAHDC, Leh in a special general council meeting held on 2nd of this month.

Leh, July 03  :   Deputy Commissioner (DC) Leh, Avny Lavasa today convened a meeting today with concerned district officers to discuss the proposal for developing eco-village at Spangmik and Lukung.

During the meeting, DC urged upon the officers to plan a workable project in a sustainable manner considering the environment fragility of the region. She stressed on providing basic amenities like drinking water, toilet and parking facility. She consulted with the concerned departments about the potential of promoting yak tourism at Pangong and instructed them to explore its possibilities. She urged them to open sale centers at Pangong to promote handicraft, handloom, yak cheese and yak products.

DC instructed Geographical Information System Engineer Dr. Asif Hussain to make a route map of essential services and important infrastructures along the route from Leh to Pangong so as to provide an easy access to various facilities available to the tourists. She emphasized on improving and prioritizing the home stay at Durbuk Sub-Division to benefit local residents in terms of income generation. She asked to provide benches along the Pangong Lake, registration for camps and other necessary requirements.

ACD, RDD, Leh informed about the successful functioning of Tsangda project at Pangong Lake and said that efforts are on to strengthen it further.

Addl. District Development Commissioner, Leh Moses Kunzang and other concerned officers attended the meeting.

Leh, July 02  :   Additional Deputy Commissioner Leh Sachin Kumar Vyashya today chaired the District Consultative Committee/District Level Review Committee (DCC/DLRC) meeting of Leh district for the quarter ending March 2019 at DC Conference hall.

The meeting was attended by Lead District Officer RBI Anil Rishi, Lead District Manager Leh Tsering Angmo, DDM(R) Leh NABARD G.K. Bhattacharji, officers of allied departments, managers and officials of banks of the district.

During the meeting detailed discussion held on CD ratios of the banks, flow of credit, assistance under various government sponsored schemes, review of ground level credit flow under District Credit Plan, KCC, NABARD and others.

ADC Sachin impressed upon the banks to prepare their 3-month progress report for their next meet. ADC also gave directions to conduct massive awareness programmes by both line departments and banks in coordination and also publicise through local medium. ADC further stressed on concrete results from both sectors of line departments and banks in the next quarter meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, LDO RBI Anil Rishi urged upon the banks to make extra effort to motivate and reach out to potential beneficiaries. He called for encouraging people to seek training from R-SETI programmes which will prove highly beneficial to their business astuteness.

Leh, July 2  :    A workshop was organized by the District Administration, Leh in coordination with NIC Leh in the Conference Hall of DC Office Leh as part of Digital India Anniversary celebration to showcase the success stories/achievements and progress made in four years since the launch of the Digital India initiative on 1st July 2015.

The concept of Digital India is to promote efficiency and transparency in delivery of Government services and working for the welfare of the citizen.

A brief presentation on Digital India initiatives viz. DigiLocker, Jeevan Pramaan, BHIM UPI, Umang, MyGov, etc. was presented to give an overview of the Digital India and highlight the importance of promoting e-governance. It was said that the initiative reduces the government-citizen digital gap.

Later similar event was also organized in Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Leh in coordination with the CSC.

During the event, it was highlighted that new generation has to be essentially computer literate in order to be relevant in the new development trend and mentioned that our country is fast moving in the e-governance regime wherein the public services are delivered electronically.

Principal, Government Boys Higher Secondary School has requested NIC and CSC to conduct more such events in the field of Information Technology for spreading awareness and effectively deliver the message of Digital India to the citizens in general and to their parents in particular through the students.

Punchok Paldan, DIO NIC, Nabi Tak, Asstt Labour Commissioner, Sonam Wangchuk, Principal, BHSS Leh, Tashi Tondup, ADIO NIC, Miss Tsering Angmo, District Manager, CSC Leh and VLEs were present on the occasion and More than 100 students have took part in the event.

Leh, June 28  :   Governor Satya Pal Malik inaugurated the grand celebration of day long Sindhu Darshan Festival at Sindhu Ghat, Shey Smanla here today.

Highlighting the importance of rivers throughout the world and their contribution in development of great civilisations, Governor noted that it should be our primary concern to save our rivers for the future generations. Mentioning that an initiative was taken by the then Union Minister Sh. L.K. Advani who started ‘Sindu Darshan’ with an objective to signify role of river Sindhu in shaping culture of this region, he underlined the need for making this event a 3 to 4 days ‘Sindhu Mela’. He said that this ‘Mela’ would give opportunity to people from all over the world to experience rich culture of Ladakh.

Governor noted that river Sindhu has remain cradle of many civilizations since time immemorial. Citing a book on Maharaja Ranjeet Singh, he said that Sindhu has also been a reason to avert many wars due to its fierce flow for months together. He added that the India has got its name from Sindhu and our ancient history is rooted in the Indus civilization. He stressed on the need to repay by honouring the River.

Governor praised people of Ladakh for their honesty, hospitality, humbleness and peaceful nature. He said that there is great scope to learn such virtues from Ladakh. He expressed his commitment to fulfil the developmental aspirations of Ladakh and observed that recently created administrative Division and Cluster University for Ladakh, airport for Kargil are few steps in this direction. He assured balanced development of Leh, Kargil and Zanskar. He also said that the Divisional offices will be established in Leh and Kargil without any discrimination and on need basis.

Sh. Rigzin Sampheal, Secretary Tourism, in his speech highlighted various initiatives taken for giving boost to the tourism sector in Ladakh.

Ms. Avny Lavasa, Deputy Commissioner Leh gave Vote of Thanks and expressed gratitude to Governor for gracing the occasion with his presence.

Leh, June 28  :   Governor Satya Pal Malik who is on a three day tour to Ladakh, met with several delegations in Leh today.

A delegation of Councillors of LAHDC, Leh, lead jointly by Sh. Gyal P. Wangyal Dy. Chairman LAHDC and Sh. Chering Dorjey, MLC, presented a memorandum to Governor. The delegation demanded expediting the process of release of pending wages and regularization of daily rated workers and casual labours of PWD circle, Leh; raised the long pending demand for grant of Special Duty Allowance (SDA) of 10% in favour of state government employees serving in the most difficult and inhospitable environment of Ladakh region and also for restoration of reservation in promotion to SC/ST government employees; sanctioning of Directorates and positioning of staff in Ladakh Division; creation of separate Hydraulic PWD Circle for Leh; sanctioning of three more Hydraulic Special Sub Divisions for Leh; 10% hike in CAPEX Budget in favour of Leh district; expedite functioning of already sanctioned Nubra Development Authority; immediate functioning of Ladakh University and Degree College, Khaltsi; permanent restoration of flood damaged infrastructure etc.

A student delegation represented by Presidents of Ladakhi students’ unions in Delhi, Jammu, Chandigarh and EJM College Leh demanded for timely examination and result declaration of colleges in Leh; conduct of LAHDC election in summer months so that they can use their right to vote; requested for a full fledged University in Ladakh with professional courses and other facilities; establishing centres for competitive exams mainly for UPSC examinations in Ladakh; deputing Nodal Officers for local students outside Ladakh; regulating air fares etc.

The delegation of All Ladakh Tour Operator Association demanded for its participation in international trade fairs; allow night stay at newly opened trekking routes, open new peaks in restricted areas for trekking and climbing. The Hoteliers requested for relaxation in GST and inner line permit.

Delegations of Ladakh Buddhist Association, Ladakh Gonpa Association, Anjuman Immamia and Anjuman Moin-ul Islam presented memorandums to Governor requesting him for redressal of their problems and demands.

A delegation representing Changthang region also submitted a memorandum demanding separate district for Changthang.

A delegation of State Government Employees Association Ladakh presented its long pending demand for sanctioning 10% SDA and reservation in promotion to SC/ST government employees.

Governor assured all the delegations to look into the matters at the earliest possible.

Leh,  June 27  :   In the last leg of “Back to Village” programme, remaining 9 panchayat halqas were covered and with that B2V programme was successfully concluded in Leh district today.

DC, Leh Avny Lavasa played a crucial role in successful conduct of B2V programme by personally monitoring the events organised in different Panchayat halqas by maintaining a constant communication with the district officers deployed to visit respective PHs. As per the guidelines every officer conducted public interaction, gave patient hearing to the problems and grievances of the village people, visited various government institutes including health centre, anganwadi centre, CA&PD stores, government schools and took stock of the ongoing government works/ projects.

The participation of state level officers further added to the effectiveness of this thereby building accountability and strengthening the connection with people at grassroot level. The officers visiting Leh district during the week were Financial Commissioner, Finance Department J&K Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Commissioner Secretary J&K Tourism Rigzin Samphel, Mohd Yaqoob Malik, Under Secretary to the Rural Development Department (J&K), Deputy Secretary Horticulture, Suhail Ahmad, Joint Director Finance/Home, Tahir Hussain and Joint Director, Geological & Mining Ashwani Khajuria.

The week long programme offered a first of its kind platform to have a direct connect between officers and rural population at grassroot level with the objective to strengthen governance at rural level. The programme was a great success with huge number of peoples’ participation in every Panchayat halqas paving its way towards a fruitful result.

Leh,  June 27   :    To cover entire Leh district including Leh town under scientific disposal /recycle garbage management system, the District Administration Leh has decided to bring Municipal area of Leh town under the ambit of Project “Tsangda” which is being implemented by Rural Dev. Dept. in the rural areas of Leh district very successfully since few years. Initially the Main Market including Nawoshar market will be covered under Project “Tsangda” and the MC Leh will be the implementing agency.

To sensitize and educate various stakeholders of MC Leh area about the Project “Tsangda”, the Rural Development Dept. Leh under the direction of DC Leh Avny Lavasa is holding series of meetings with members of Municipal
Committee Leh, officers and officials of MC Leh and shopkeepers, hoteliers of Leh market since last week.

Today, a large number of business units holders of Leh market headed by President Merchant Association Leh P. Wangyal, Councillor Khaltsi Lobzang Sharep attended a meeting in DC Conference Hall Leh where ADC, Leh Tsering Paldan and District Panchyat Officer Leh Zakir Hussain sensitized them about the Project “Tsangda” which was initiated with the aim of sustainable waste management in rural pockets of Leh district. ACD Leh Paldan said that Project “Tsangda” is the first ever waste segregation centre in Choglamsar and later extended in Diskit Nubra, Khaltsi, Nimoo, Pangong and Hunder where segregated garbage from the local residents and shops are collected and recycled and renewed into income and quipped that by replicating Project “Tsangda” in Leh town will solve the problem of garbage dumping ground like (Bomb-garh) in Leh town and prevent mounting of such unmanageable dumping grounds in future.

A documentary film and play on Project like “Tsangda” made by Rural Dev. Dept. Leh was also showcased to the participants.

 Programs of Ladakh dPal-rNgam Duston 2018 finalized
      LEH, OCTOBER 05: All the programs of the ensuing Ladakh dPal-rNgam Duston were finalized today in meeting held at Council Secretariat under the chairmanship of CEC, DorjeyMotup.
          The meeting was attended by EC Agriculture TseringWangdus, EC Health Gyal P Wangyal, Councilors of Khaltsi, Sku-Markha and Thiksay constituencies, Nambardars of Thiksay, Shey, Ranbirpore and Nang villages, Cultural Officer TsewangPaljor and all the concerned district officers.
       The meeting was informed that the main event of Ladakh dPal-rNgam Duston will be celebrated at historic NyarmaThiksay, which was once a hub of Buddhism founded by Lama LotsavaRinchenZangpo in 11th century.
       This year’s dPal-rNgam Duston is being dedicated in honour of Lama LotsawaRinchenZangpo for his immense contribution to religion, culture, art and literature in Ladakh.
       The CEC said that unlike the previous events, this year Ladakh dPal-rNgam Duston will be celebrated in a unique traditional way with native village dances, songs and food. He further added that similar events shall also be held at Alchi, Mangyu and Sumdha villages considering the fact that there is a large collection of invaluable preserved treasures of LotsawaRinchenZangpo’s. A grand photo exhibition on Lama Lotsawa’s works shall be organized at Nyarma by the CIBS, Leh on the standing walls of ruined temples that would be the central attraction of the event, DorjeyMotup quipped.
       To make the event more meaningful, CEC sought full cooperation from the people of Thiksay, Shey, Ranbirpore, Nang, Alchi, Mangyu and Sumdha villages and accordingly, the Councillors of Alchi, Sku-markha, Thiksay and the Nambardars of Thiksay, Shey, Ranbirpore and Nang assured to play their role with utmost care and responsibility.
       It was further told in the meeting that the programs of Ladakh dPal-rNgam Duston on 19th October will be held in two parts-first at Leh Palace at 9 AM where CEC would deliver the message of dPal-rNgam Duston to people, second including the main celebrations shall be started at NyarmaThiksay at 11AM simultaneously with similar programs at Alchi, Mangyu and Sumdha.

LEH, SEPTEMBER 24: In view of the upcoming Municipal Polls-2018, the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K has directed to establish dedicated control rooms at Election Cell at DC Office, Leh.
The District Election officer has directed to depute Tashi Angmo, ENT, Gurmet Tsewang, HA DIC Office, Stanzin Lundup, Jr. Asstt, DIC office, Dorjey Angchok (M) Statistical Assistant, DRDA Office and Mohd Zakaria, IPO, DIC Office, Leh as in-charge of control room under the supervision of Dy. District Election Officer, Leh Dr. Udham Dass Sharma. 
As per the order, the assigned incharge officers/officials shall be personally responsible for functioning of control room 24x7 as per the daily roster.

LEH, SEPTEMBER 24: On the third-day of Ladakh Festival various functions including Mask Dance (Chams), Thanka exhibition, handloom, handicraft and food stalls, photo exhibition of birds and mammals of Ladakh, archery competition and polo matches were held here in the district.
DC Leh Avny Lavasa inaugurated the handloom, handicraft and food stalls and photo exhibition of birds and mammals of Ladakh by WCBL (Ladakh Bird Club) in the morning at Leh main market. She was accompanied by concern district officers. She visited every stall and appreciated everyone for their participation in Ladakh Festival.
Brig R.S Sundaram, SM, VSM was the chief guest for the program of Mask dance at Chokhang Vihara Leh. The dance included Gonbo Khor (Maha Kala), Mahey, Rgyal Lon, Acharya and Bakchung Karu dances performed by the monks of Pheyang monastery.
ADC, Moses Kunzang was the chief guest on the inauguration event of archery competition. Various teams including students participated in the archery competition.   
Polo match began with the postponed matches followed by scheduled matches. The first match was played between Indus Polo Club Chushot and Drass Polo Club, where the former won by 5 goals. The second match was played between Ladakh Scout Regimental Centre (LSRC) and Kundik Polo Club Wanla which was won by the former by 5 goals.   
Besides, parallel events like Art Exhibition, photo exhibition, talk series, sustainable/rural tourism/spirituality and environment and screening of films/documentaries on Ladakh at LAMO Centre and live demonstration of contemporary sculpture were also held. Besides, exhibition at Onpo House and folk singing by veteran folk artists of Ladakh headed by renowned folk singer Tsering Stanzin was also held at Lonpo House in Kharyog, Leh.
Tourists both foreigners and domestic were present during these events in good numbers. Besides, locals were also seen enjoying the Chams, archery, polo and food served at food stalls arranged in Leh main market as part of Ladakh Festival.
Music concert was also performed in the evening at Leh main market.

LEH, SEPTEMBER 22: The annual Ladakh Festival concluded here today with a scintillating closing ceremony in which Secretary Tourism, Rigzin Samphel was the chief guest.
 The closing ceremony witnessed a cultural extravaganza showcasing a glimpse of the rich heritage of Ladakhi culture and tradition. Around 20 cultural troupes dressed in ceremonial attire from all parts of Leh district and five groups of school children participated in the procession. 
CEC, LAHDC Dorjey Mutup, EC (Agriculture) Tsering Wangdus, EC (Health) Gyal Wangyal, EC (Tourism) Tsering Sandup, DC Leh Avny Lavasa, Deputy Director Tourism Riaz Ahmad Shah, ADC Moses Kunzang, district officers, president and representatives of travel & trade, hotel and merchant association were also present on the occasion.
Foreign and domestic tourists and locals gathered in large numbers to witness the ceremony of Ladakh Festival, 2018.
On the occasion, Secretary Tourism emphasized on the present and future prospect of tourism in Ladakh. He appreciated the coordinated efforts put in by all the stakeholders involved with tourism sector like District Administration, NGOs working on environment and tourism, hoteliers, travel association and others.
He expressed gratitude to the tourists visiting Ladakh and wished them a happy journey in future too.      
DC, Leh Avny Lavasa said that Ladakh Festival is a major event organized every year by LAHDC, Leh and J&K Tourism Department in collaboration with the local communities. She said that the main objective of Ladakh Festival is to promote the richness, depth and pageantry of Ladakh’s centuries-old culture, tradition, folk heritage, besides providing tourists the opportunity to experience its diversity and vibrancy.

Jammu, Sept 21: BJP declared its MC Election Committee for Leh in a marathon meeting conducted in the Chairmanship of BJP State General Secretary Yudhvir Sethi.
Yudhvir Sethi, while giving details about the committee, said that Chering Dorjey (MLC) will be the  Chairman of the committee, while Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, President BJP Leh, Nawang Tsering Vice President (HQ),BJP Leh, Dr. Skalzang Dorjey Gen. Secretary (Pol.Affairs), BJP Leh, Ven. Lama Lobzang Nyantak, Councillor and Tsering Namgyal, President, BJYM Leh will be the honourable members of the committee.
Yudhvir Sethi, further said that the BJP will contest all the seats with clear intention to win the outcome. He said that keeping its focus on “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas” BJP is concentrating on its mission for the equitable development of all the three regions of the state and these local elections will further help the party in its mission for the ground level development.

          LEH, SEPTEMBER 18: Deputy Commissioner, Leh Avny Lavasa today convened a meeting to discuss the services of medical consultants and other issues related to health department yesterday in the conference Hall of DC office, Leh.
            The Deputy Commissioner directed the chemist’s association to ensure that government doctors working with them do not work in private capacity between 9:45 am to 4:15 pm. They were also directed to alter the timings displayed at their shops/clinics to read 9:45 am as last morning time and 4:15 pm as the first time in the evening for consultation.
            In presence of DC, a committee was also constituted headed by ADC Leh, Moses Kunzang to conduct an inspection to check whether the doctors are adhering to official timings.
            Similarly, MS, SNM hospital, Leh was directed to submit daily biometric attendance of the hospital to DC office.
            The meeting was attended by CMO, Leh MS, SNM hospital, Leh, Drug Inspector, Leh Drug controller, Leh, President, Chemists Association, Leh and chemists of Leh.
