Kolkata, Sep 27: Yeti Obhijaan ,another adventure of Kakababu and Santa, is where they unravel the mystery of the legendary beast, the Yeti. Gorokhshep plateau is the new destination where the uncle-nephew duo finds themselves facing harsh circumstances in the process of unwinding the actual truth behind the various incidents revolving around the attacks of the giant beast. Based on Sunil Gangopadhyay’s ‘Paharchuray Atonko’, ‘Yeti Obhijaan’ is the second film of ‘Kakababu’ series directed by renowned director Srijit Mukherjee. The adventurous trip introduces them as Mingma and Norbu, local sherpas who help them in the expedition. The expedition leads them to unveil a secret intelligence organisation which carries with it various illegal work with the mask of the Yeti myth. The film has been shot in India and Switzerland. Produced by Shrikant Mohta, Mahendra Soni and Abdul Aziz under the banner of SVF Entertainment and Jaaz Multimedia, the film features Prosenjit Chatterjee as Kakababu and Aryann Bhowmik as Santu in lead role. The movie also features other actors namely, Mr. Ferdous Ahmed, Alexx O’Nell, Mim Bidya Sinha Saha and Jisshu Sengupta in the prominent roles. The scale of this film is as grand as the Himalayas. Soumik Halder deserves the biggest credit for capturing the essence of this larger-than-life canvas in the most serene style. He almost humanises the Hills, which is endearing to say the least. The exceptional use of aerial shots, coupled with the vibrant texture of the varied hues of snow lets your imagination run wild. There is a scene where an injured Sherpa makes his way to the camp, sliding on the snow. The gleaming red colour of his blood, juxtaposed against the dry and sombre snow, was a spectacle to behold. The film also stands out for the breathtakingly beautiful use of lights in the underground caves, where the climax of the film unfolds. Yeti Obhijaan steers clear of these shortcomings and in a signature-Srijit style presents an exhilarating thriller that would be palatable for anyone from 8 to 80. The dialogues are witty and sharp. And the riveting background score is sure to give you goosebumps all along. Prosenjit Chatterjee gets in to the skin of the character and makes it his own. As Shantu, Aryan Bhowmick has come a long way fromMishawr Rohosyo. Even the character of Shantu has evolved and matured. In his small role, Jishu Sengupta again gives us a taste of his mettle. 'Yeti Obhijaan', the first Bengali film shot extensively in the Alps mountain range was released across Nepal September 22. 'Yeti Obhijaan' was the first Bengali film to be dubbed in Nepalese language, a spokesperson of the producers SVF said. Co-founder of SVF Mahendra Soni said, “We are constantly looking to innovate and expand into new markets keeping consumer preferences in mind.” “With so many Nepali characters involved with the film, we decided to dub the film in Nepalese and release it on the same day as its national release. In Nepalese, the film is called Yeti,” he said. Actor Prosenjit said, “This film was a tough journey. To climb the snow-capped mountains that too with a crutch (one has to keep the body language in place) is no mean feat! The mountaineers helped me a lot to achieve what the character was demanding of me. But I must admit that the crutch has become a part of me. Whenever I am in Kakababu's shoes, the handling of the crutch comes effortlessly to me." Bangladeshi pride Bidya Sinha Saha Mim, who is starring in this film, said, "This was a unique experience. I got the opportunity to work with talented actors. The film released in Nepal is also an added factor." Notably, the name of Mim's character in this film is Chitrangada Verma. Overall, Srijit Mukherjee deserves a huge pat on the back, and a packet full of sweets from Balaram Mullick (wink) for setting the bar high yet again. Bengali cinema has never seen an adventure film of this magnitude, and finesse, before. This Durga Pujo, every Bengali must take a ride of nostalgia to the Alps with Yeti Obhijaan.UNI
