Sep 21: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today advised the farmers
not to get panick over Supreme Court favouring formation of Cauvery Monitoring
Committee (CMC). He said that the State Government, which is against setting up
of such Committee, will consult the lawyers who have been arguing the case and
take necessary steps to protect the interests of farmers of the State. Stating
that even though the monsoon has failed for the third consecutive year in the
state, some relief to the farmers following the late rains particularly in the
Cauvery basin. He said that most of the reservoirs in the state have not filled
up, But it is happily note that a few small reservoirs like Kabini and Harangi
were filled up. Still the major reservoir of Cauvery basin KRS has just reached
100 ft marks, but it was not enough, he pointed out. UNI
