Maharahstra, Sep 27: Organs of 19-year-old brain dead youth from city has
been harvested successfully on Tuesday evening in Government Medical College
(GMC) here after he was declared dead. This is the first dead patents organ
harvesting procure has been performed in Latur city in Marathwada region of
Maharashtra. According to the GMC Dean Dr Rajaram Powar, a youth was admitted
in the private hospital following head injuries on September 15 after he was
fell down from tin roofs due to electric current. As his condition was
deteriorated and was shifted to GMC on Monday where he was declared brain dead
by the team of doctors. Later, the doctor convinced his family members to
donate his the organs, which will save life of four needed humans. Completing
legal process and arrangement of green corridor yesterday, the procedure of
conducting organ harvesting conducted successfully by two teams of doctors from
Aurangabad and Mumbai, they said. Two Kidneys and heart are harvested from the
dead body of patient. Both the kidneys have been sent to Aurangabad based MGM
hospital and Kamalnayan Bajaj hospital through roads which are transplanted to
the needy patients in these hospitals. With the help of green corridor heart
has been sent to the Asian Heart Institute in Mumbai while lever could not send
to Delhi due to some technical problem in aircraft. It may noted that numbers
of such cases of organ harvesting procedures have been successfully performed
in the past in Aurangabad which is a divisional headquarters of this region.
