Govt should answer on Dawood's wife visit: Congress

New Delhi, Sept 23: Referring to reports about the secret visit by wife of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim to the country, the Congress on Saturday demanded an answer from the Centre as well as the Maharashtra Government in this regard. Talking to reporters here, AICC spokesperson Rajeev Shukla said, 'There are reports in the media that Dawood's wife Mehjbin Sheikh had come to India last year and returned quietly after staying in Mumbai for 15 days. The reports said she had come to meet her father.' Mr Shukla said if the reports are true, it was a serious matter and the government should answer as to what were the intelligence agencies doing. Demanding an answer from the Government, Mr Shukla said, 'At a time when the country is fighting against terrorism, the wife of a terrorist visits the country for a fortnight and thereafter returns without anybody being aware of her visit. All this raises questions on our fight against terrorism. Hence, the Government should give an answer on this matter.' Earlier, in a tweet on the issue, AICC media incharge Randeep Surjewala said, 'Shocking revelation of terrorist Dawood Ibrahim's wife visiting Mumbai in 2016 under BJP Govt's watch. Will PM answer?'
