Sept 28: Indian National League State president Syed Alavi
Puthiyavalappil, popularly known as S A Puthiyavalappil, died due to cardiac
arrest at his own house at Thalassery in the early hours. INL is one of the
ally of Left Democratic Front. He was 72 and survived by wife Aysha and four
children, including two sons. The funeral function will be held at Odathil
mosque near Thalassery in this evening. The body was shifted to his ancestral
house at Thalassery so that people can pay last respects. He was the INL state
president since 2004 and also served as the General Secretary during 1998. He
was contested for INL from Koothuparamba constituency as LDF candidate in 2011
assembly election, but lost to K P Mohanan of Socialist Janatha (Democratic),
an ally of UDF for just 3,303 votes. His father CKP Cheriya Mamukoya, who was
also a Indian Union Muslim League leader, S A Puthiya Valapil, also served as
the MSF, state general secretary in 1963. He also served as the chairman on
Cheruvannur steels and the vice chairman of the governing body of Sir Syed
College at Thaliparamba. UNI
