SAMBA SEPTEMBER 06: District
Development Commissioner, , Sheetal Nanda today chaired the meeting of District
Level Review and Consultative Committee to review the progress and performance
of banks in key areas related to deposits, advances and priority sector lending
for the quarter ending June, 2017.
The DDC asked banks to provide lending to one beneficiary per branch in
each quarter under ‘Differential Rate of Interest Scheme' for extending financial assistance
to low income groups. She added that banks should publicize incentives like
concession to women borrowers in ‘Rate of Interest’ to improve
credit flow to them.
She said that beneficiaries should not depend solely on interest
subvention schemes and government departments should pursue non sponsored cases
too. She specifically directed Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Horticulture
departments to explore possibilities for farm mechanization, infrastructure up
gradation and explore financial assistance in consultation with banks. The
DLRCC asked banks to pay more focus on Joint Liability and Self Help Groups as
studies have proved that they are more secure and less prone to be ‘Non
performing Asset’.
Earlier, Lead Bank Manager, Satish Sharma apprised participants that CD
ratio of district was 43.90% and priority sector advances are 60.43 % to total
credit in Samba District. DDM NABARD, Surinder Singh informed that NABARD shall
