GANDERBAL, SEPTEMBER 25: A
cleanliness drive was organized by the district administration Ganderbal
today in connection with the ongoing ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ campaign.
District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Dr. Piyush Singla, SSP
Ganderbal, Fayaz Ahmad Lone, ADC Ganderbal, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari, and other
concerned officers also participated in the drive. Besides officers and
officials from Police, Revenue, Municipality, I&FC, SDRF and Bharat Scouts
and Guides also took part in the drive.
The sanitation drive started by cleaning and removing illegal
encroachments around the Trout Nallah, Duderhama Ganderbal. It was said that
strict action as per the law would be initiated against the encroachers in the
district.
The drive gave an opportunity to the locals to join hands with the
administration in creating awareness about the importance of hygiene and
sanitation.
The DDC appealed people to ensure cleanliness of their surroundings and
not litter at the public places and in the water bodies. He asked the people to
avoid using polythene as it is the major cause of pollution and often becomes a
reason of choking of nallahs and drains.
