Open auction for minor mineral mining on Vishow Nallah held in Kulgam

This will check illegal mining: DDC Kulgam

KULGAM, SEPTEMBER 25: An open auction for grant of minor mineral mining rights on Vishow Nallah was today held in Kulgam under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Talat Parvez Rohella.

The auctions for grant of minor mineral mining rights on the Nallah include lease for a period of 5 years as per the J&K Minor Minerals Concession, Storage, Transportation of Minerals and Prevention of Illegal Mining Rules, 2016.

         Five out of fifteen blocks auctioned were allotted during the auctioning process. The remaining ten blocks will be re-auctioned.

          Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman said the process entails checking of illegal mining operations on Vishow Nallah besides generating revenue for the State.

Pertinently, this is the first time that an open auction of minor minerals has been held.
