SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 21: A delegation
of Civil Society, Baramulla today called on Minister for Education, Syed
Mohammad Altaf Bukhari and requested for speeding up land acquisition process
for Baramulla Degree College.
Acquisition of land for the Government Degree College, Baramulla was
discussed in detail with the delegation.
The Minister, during his interaction with the delegation, led by MLA
Baramulla, said that money would soon be sanctioned to augment the
infrastructure of Baramulla Degree College.
Pledging to make it one of the best colleges in Baramulla, the Minister
gave an approval to depute more faculty for the department of Mathematics and
Mass Communication.
On this occasion, the civil society members apprised Bukhari about the
present status of college. The Minister was informed that college imparts
education at post graduation level and hence should be called as a PG College
so that University Grants Commission declares the same as a research centre.
After giving a patient hearing to the issues faced by them, the Minister
assured the delegation that their genuine grievances will be looked into.
During the meeting various other issues were also put forward before the
Minister to which he extended his full support.
He also asked the officials to submit the proposals on priority basis
for the works that needs to be implemented in the district Baramulla.
