Haji Anayat convenes introductory meeting of chairmen of various Committees

Calls for making working of Committees result oriented

SRINAGAR SEPTEMBER 20: Chairman Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali today asked the heads of the Committees, constituted for the year 2017-18, to chalk-out meeting calendar in advance in consultations with the concerned members to ensure their regular presence.

The Chairman convened an introductory meeting of the nominated Chairmen of different Committees of the Legislative Council constituted for current fiscal to review the working of the different Departments and other issues which come under the jurisdiction of the Committees.

Legislators, Qaiser Jamsheed Lone, Naresh Kumar Gupta, Ramesh Arora, Saif-ud-Din Bhat, Mohammad Khursheed Alam, Surinder Mohan Ambardar, Ashok Khajuria, Rani Gargi Bilowria, Ali Mohammad Dar, and G N Monag besides Special Secretary Legislative Council, Mohammad Ashraf Wani were present on the occasion.

Emphasizing on upholding the sanctity and dignity of the House, the Chairman asked the heads of the Committees to make sure that purpose of framing these Committees is attained. He said that nominated Chairmen of Committees have important role in disposing of issues of public interest and asked them to hold the meetings at both the capital cities of the State and submit their reports for further action.

The Chairman asked the heads of the Committees to hold separate meetings with the members of the concerned Committees before chalking out the meeting calendar so that the meeting dates are fixed as per the convenience of the members.

He directed the Council Secretariat to provide appropriate staff to assist the Committees including preparing the minutes and other issues so that the report of the Committees could be prepared accordingly. It also directed that shortage of support, if any, at the Council Secretariat should be addressed at the earliest.

Chairman instructed concerned officers of the Council Secretariat to extend full cooperation to the members during the meetings and visits made by the Committees and to provide all the records and other relevant documents of the different departments.

 Legislators, present on the occasion also put-forth suggestions for making the Committees more effective and result oriented in their working.

The Committees recommended that the best legislators and best press award should be given by Council Secretariat as per the past practice.

Deputy Secretaries of Legislative Council besides other concerned officers and officials were also present in the meeting.
