KATHUA, SEPTEMBER 05: District Election Officer Ramesh Kumar convened a meeting with the Electoral Registration Officers to approve the calendar of pro-revision activity for draft publication of photo electoral rolls by fixing January 1, 2018 as qualifying date.
The Deputy District Election Officer, Chand Kishore Sharma informed the meeting about the electoral profile of Kathua district. He said during the period of Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door to door field verification of entries identified apart from collecting electors' information on contact details, family members, including non-enrolled and persons going to become eligible on 1st January 2018which will be entered in the details of NERP portal for further processing. He also apprised that 6730 applications were received from the CEO for online registration of Service Electors.
During the meeting the DEO exhorted upon the Electoral Registration Officers to prepare the revision schedule in such a manner that the electoral rolls are finally published before National Voters Day (NVD) so that the EPICs generated for new electors can be distributed to them in time. He also stressed on timely completion of pre-revision activities like referring of vacant posts of BLOs, training and orientation of EROs/AEROs/BLOs, deletion of multiple entries/dead electors, rationalization of polling stations with upper limit of 1200 and 1400 electors in rural and urban polling stations respectively, photography campaign for left out and new electors besides adequate publicity and awareness drive to reach out left out and new electors.
To mitigate the difficulties faced by service voters in the matter of exercising their franchise including armed forces personnel a mechanism has been devised by the ECI to cast their vote in elections through e-postal ballot. Armed forces personnel serving in remote and border areas would be greatly benefitted through e-ballot, DEO informed.
On the occasion, the DEO impressed upon EROs/AEROs to personally monitor the progress of enrolments so that all eligible voters are registered in the Electoral Rolls.

 ADC Billawar, Joginder Singh Rai; ACR, SDMs, Tehsildars and other Electoral Registration Officers were present in the meeting.
