KATRA, SEPTEMBER 27: The six
day of ongoing Navratra Festival witnessed stunning performances by Bollywood singers Hashmit, Sultan and Akira at the last
preliminary round of devotional songs competition held here last evening.
In the last day of preliminary rounds of the competition, Dr. Shivankar
Bharti from Jammu clinched Ist Position and qualified directly for Semi Final to
be held on Sept 28.
The 2nd Position was shared by duo singers Rashpal Singh and Kirpal
Singh from Punjab and Surinder from Jammu and 3rd position was held by Rakesh
Malhotra also from Jammu. All these also straightway qualified for quarter
final to be held this evening. In all 13 participants performed in the round.
Meanwhile, the first winner was presented cash prize of Rs 10,000 ,
while second and third runner ups were presented Rs 5,000/-and Rs 3,000/- along
with gift hampers from Roots Herbals.
The Grand finale of the All India Devotional Song Competition will be
held on Sep 29 and the winner will be awarded with gold amounting to Rs. 3 Lakh and a
recording contract with Venus Records and Tapes. The first
and second runners up will get gold worth 01 Lakh and 50,000/- respectively.
The Devotional Song Competition was adjudged by the panel of experts including Bollywood Singer Shankar Sahni- who on the
persistent demand of organizers extended his visit by one day, Prof. Anupama
Sharma, Lecturer Music Govt Degree College Parade and V.K Sambyal, former
Director All India Radio.
The event started with the lighting of traditional lamp by the Bollywood
singers Shanker Sawhney, Hasmit, Sultana and Akira in presence of Addl SP
Katra, Chief Education Officer Reasi Bishan Singh, Dy.SPs Subash Bhardwaj,
Jugal Kishore Sharma, Rakesh Wazir President Hotel Association Katra and
Chairman All India Devotional Song Committee,Yog Acharya Swami Yoga Nand ji
Maharaj, Shyam Lal Kesar, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Virender Kesar, Ajay Kotwal etc.
The proceedings were conducted by the Chairman of the Competition,
Rakesh Wazir. He also informed that famous celebrity Singers Diljaan
and Masha Ali lined up for guest performances at the event on Sept 28.
