Rishi Kashyap Swasthya Sewa Yatra concludes
JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 23: Lauding
the role of National Medicos Organization (NMO) besides others who organized
medical camps in rural and border areas of the State, Deputy Chief Minister Dr.
Nirmal Singh said that steps are afoot to provide quality healthcare facilities
to people at their doorstep.
Deputy Chief Minister said this during valedictory function of
five-day long Rishi Kashyap Swasthya Sewa Yatra (RKSSY) at Government Medical
College, Jammu here today.
RKSSY was conducted by National Medicos Organization, Ekal Abhiyan, Sewa
Bharati and Arogya Foundation of India.
Dr Singh said that such medical cum awareness camps help in bridging the
gaps by creating awareness among general public about the prevention of various
diseases and their treatment. He recognized the efforts of doctors from various
states of India who dedicated their free and selfless services to people of
Jammu and Kashmir during this 5-day health campaign.
He urged the participants who came from outside the State to share their
experiences in their respective States. He said that doctors should be
appreciated for their dedication to keep up with advances in their respective
fields, and for the kindness and charity they give to the society.
About 17000 patients suffering from various ailments were attended by
doctors and representatives of National Medico Organization during the camps. A
total of 111 Medical Checkup camps were organized in various remote and border
areas of the Jammu and Kashmir State during which free medicines were also
distributed among beneficiaries.
NMO aims to organize and motivate allopathic doctors for serving
under-privileged sections of the society, settled in the tribal village and
slum areas. From its inception, NMO is working untiringly in providing devoted
voluntary health services primarily to interior villages through Seva
activities and with its slogans ‘Swasthya Seva - Rashtra Seva’
The RKSSY was organized under the supervision of Principal GMC Dr
Sunanda Raina, National Secretary NMO, Dr Om Parkash and other members of
National Medicos Organization.
Among others, doctors, faculty members and students of GMC and other
parts of the country were also present on the occasion.
