KANGAN, SEPTEMBER 28:- The Applied Nutrition Programme (ANP) wing of
Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj on
Thursday conducted a day-long awareness camp for women wioth an aim to create
awareness among women about the importance of nutrition.
The camp
was presided over by the SDM Kangan Mustafa Ahmed Andrabi while Tufail Ahmad
Rathore, State Nutrition Officer (SNO) was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The
others present on the occasion were Block Development Officer Bashir Ahmed
Baba, Doctors and other senior officers besides a large gathering of women
participated in the camp.
The speakers stressed on the importance of taking nutritious diet for
women to keep themselves healthy. It was emphasized that a healthy mother gives
birth to healthy child. “So all women must take proper and balanced diet which is important for
both the women and their children,” insisted Tufail. “Instead of
taking medicines, women should take proper diet so that there’s no
requirement of taking the medicine.”
The speakers said that government in general and the Department of Rural
Development & PR in particular is running various schemes for women welfare
through which thousands of women are benefitting.
The schemes are designed to empower the women and make them self
sufficient and independent, the speakers said.
Speaking on the occasion, Tufail said in this era, women need to be
associated with such welfare schemes so as to reap the maximum benefit of these
schemes for their own benefit. “The government and the Department is
leaving no stone unturned to make women live with their heads high,” said
Tufail, adding “The Department under the directions of Minister RDD & PR, Abdul Haq
wants to empower girls and wants them to live a healthy and comfortable life.”
