SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 28: The Committee which met here today
under the chairmanship of MLA, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami
to discuss the issues related to Environment.
Legislators Shamim Firdous, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Daleep Singh Parihar,
Gulzar Ahmad Wani and Anjum Fazili attended the meeting and gave their valuable
suggestions for safeguarding the environment of the State and urged for vigorous
campaign to safeguard the water bodies.
The Committee directed the Assembly Secretariat to invite Vice Chairman
LAWDA and higher authorities of Forest and other allied department in its next
meeting to discuss the issue of cleanliness in detail. The Committee urged for
awareness campaign about the cleanliness of water bodies especially Dal Lake.
The Committee also directed the Assembly Secretariat to issue a public notice
in print and electronic media for inviting suggestion from the Environmentalists,
Environment Expert, NGOs and Civil Society to assist and share the information
to upgrade the eco friendly environment with Committee.
The Committee also suggested to organize a workshop on environment and
invite all Legislators, environment experts to participate in the Workshop.
The Committee directed the concerned authorities of Forests and other
concerned departments to submit a detailed comprehensive reports of environment
management.
Committee sought the report about the steps taken by the Forest
Department and its allies sector to protect the preservation and conservation
of forest.
The Committee constituted two sub-committees, one under the Chairmanship
of MLA Dr. Davinder Manial to pay on-spot visit on National Highway and the
other under the Chairmanship of MLA, Mohammad Abas Wani to pay on spot visit of
various Tourist destinations in the State.
The committee decided to invite Director Rural Development Kashmir and
Jammu and Director Rural Sanitation in its next meeting on 9th of
October 2017.
Secretary, Legislative Assembly, M R Singh, Additional Secretary,
Legislative Assembly and officers and officials of Assembly Secretariat
attended the meeting.
