Directs admin to facilitate beneficiaries in completing formalities |
JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 13: Deputy
Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today directed the divisional and district
administrations here to extend full cooperation to the displaced persons to
enable them complete the formalities for entitlement of relief under Prime Minister’s Special
Package.
Speaking at a joint meeting of senior functionaries and representatives
of refugee organizations here today, he asked the concerned departments to
adopt proactive approach to minimize the difficulties faced by the prospective
beneficiaries in completing the requisite formalities.
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr M.K Bhandari, Deputy Commissioners
and ACRs of Samba, Kathua and Jammu and other senior officers of concerned
departments were present in the meeting.
The Dy CM was responding to the issues raised by the representatives
about the problems faced by the DPs in the completion of formalities and
preparation of requisite revenue documents.
Dr Singh
said the government his highly sensitive to the problems and difficulties of
DPs and is working for the mitigation of the same. He called upon the
government functionaries to complete the process on war footing and send the
cases to the Centre so that beneficiaries get the first installment under the
Prime Minister’s relief package.
He further said the Ministry of Home Affairs has appointed a Nodal
Officer to exclusively coordinate with the refugee people for redressing their
day to day issues.
Responding to the issues raised by the representatives, he directed the
officers to a keep check on the elements unlawfully fleecing the genuine
beneficiaries. “The People should be made fully aware about the procedure and required
documents to save them from such elements” he asserted and assured that all
genuine persons will get their due under the PM’s relief
package.
He informed that the state government has also discussed the problems
faced by the West Pakistani Refugees in terms of disbursement of relief to them
with MHA adding that the later is working out a suitable procedure to overcome
the problems.
Dr Singh directed Divisional Commissioner to constitute a Committee of
senior officers of district administrations of Jammu, Kathua, Samba and
representatives of displaced persons of PoK refuges of 1947,1965 and 1971 to
visit MHA and settle the issues of pending claims on account of land
deficiency/enlistment of left out families etc.
“The
Committee shall make its recommendations along with the details of the families
entitled to any relief so that matter is settled by the competent authority” he
directed.
