SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 14: Deputy
Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Nazir Ahmed Gurezi said that efforts are being
made to achieve a comprehensive development of the region with special focus on
providing complete road connectivity especially to people living in remote and
far off areas.
The Deputy Speaker said this while chairing a meeting convened to
review the progress of works on various schemes including NABARD, PMGSY,BADP,
especially with regards to Gurez region.
Commissioner/ Secretary, PWD(R&B), Chief Engineer, Roads and
Building, OC 56 RCC, BEACON, SE, R&B, AEE, Mechanical Engineering, PMGSY
were present in the meeting.
The Deputy Speaker directed for release of funds with regards to
various schemes in State including NABARD, PMGSY,BADP so that the development
works can be undertaken without any bottlenecks and essential infrastructure
can be provided to the populace.
Gurezi said that his aim is to provide all year road connectivity to
the people of Gurez so that the Valley is not cut off from the rest of the
country and from the inter linked villages.
He further said that he has requested Director General Boarder Road
Organization (GoI), New Delhi to pay a visit to Gurez to ascertain the
situation and has requested for providing Rs. 13 crore required for equipment,
machinery and Rs 2 crore for yearly infrastructure, so that road connectivity is
available for the people of Gurez for at least 10 month a year.
