SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 15: Noted
freelance film maker and teacher, Gautam Chakraborty, in collaboration with
Arasta Trust, is scheduled to conduct a workshop on 'Documentary Film Making'
for media students of J&K at Media Complex, Polo View Srinagar from 3rd October
2017 to 15th October 2017.
The media students interested in attending the workshop should register
themselves by sending their details through email onaudiovideounit@jkinformation.co in by 25th
September 2017. The details of the student must include name, contact number,
email address, name of institution, testimonials etc.
Only 20 students are to be shortlisted for the workshop on the basis of
aptitude and merit.
The intending participants must possess some basic proficiency of video
& audio in one of the basic edit-software, premier or FCP and basic digital
photography, videography, audio recording. They should be also ready with at
least 5 documentary ideas with basic research based concept-note/write-up and
representative stills/videos (with a mobile-phone camera). The spotlights for
documentaries include history, theories, aesthetics, movements, genre/modes,
applications, socio-politics, techniques & manifestations and contemporary
trends.
The methodology of the workshop shall include classroom
lecture-demonstrations, screening and analysis of selected portions of
canonical and other important/relevant films and whole film, hands-on
techno-aesthetic lessons, making presentations/exercises/projects and
classroom/lab-based practical exercises with pre-generated customized rushes
and self –generated footage including outdoor shooting and making of a documentary
proposal/pitch.
Gautam Chakraborty is alumni of Film and Television Institute of India
(FTII) Pune. He has also acquired diploma in Educational Audiovisual Media
Programme from Europe and has been teaching in several premiere institutes
including FTII, NID and IIMC.
