Delhi, Sept 7: Ms Nirmala Sitharaman, who was appointed as the country's
first full-fledged woman Defence Minister in Sunday's cabinet reshuffle, today
assumed charge of office at the south block here. The takeover of the charge
from Minister Arun Jaitley was delayed by two days as the outgoing Defence
Minister was in Japan for a ministerial dialogue. Earlier, Ms Sitharaman has
served as Minister for Commerce and Industry and also as BJP's spokesperson.
