Srinagar,
Sep 2: Train service in the Kashmir valley has been suspended for security
reasons today and tomorrow, a railway official said. 'We have suspended all
train runs today and tomorrow for security reasons,' he told UNI. He said,
therefore, there will be no train service on Srinagar-Badgam in central Kashmir
to Baramulla in north Kashmir. Similarly, all train runs between
Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region will
also remain suspended for two days from today. He said the service has been
suspended on the advice by police and civil administration. Last month, train
service in the Kashmir valley was suspended a number of days for security
reasons following encounters between militants and security forces,
particularly in south Kashmir. Last year, the train service was suspended for
about six months due to summer unrest. UNI
